Souther Cali Meet up for Euro light install.

Placo suggested this, so I give him credit for a great idea.

IF people want, we can get together, and all do euro light installs if ya got em. We can all learn from each other, and make it a fun experience to boot.

I can imagine the Eurolight DIY section on this site being put up, with pictures of several members working together on the DIY of each others cars.

We can even go as far as to do the relay wiring for the improved electrical stability and power, that is if anyone is willing to help me figure it out from the instructions we have around for that.

If people are interested, reply here, so we can figure out a time and date to do it. I love the idea of a meet up, with a purpose of working on our cars and trading shop talk .

Hell I'm sure we can all enjoya few beers and great conversation, with some nice photoshoots of our rides.

If you are up for it, Chime in.

If all goes well and I have my parts by this weekend, I think saturday or sunday would be a great day to meet up, otherwise I have no problems with waiting until next weekend.. only problem is that next sunday will be fathers day, so that would leave only the saturday, because most of us will hopefully be spending time with our fathers, and or kids if you got em.

Alon

Definitely count me in, I'd suggest Saturday early morning (9Am) or Sunday late morning.

Now we need to figure out a place we can meet up that would be agreeable. Somewhere that would fit a few cars and also allow us to work on the cars without problems. I'm willing to cruise up north and it sounds like most members live in the LA area anyway.

I have some socket wrenches and a standard metric wrench set as well.

Well anyone have any ideas where to meet?

We'll have to organize this pretty quickly since it's already Wednesday, anyone interested please chime in and lets throw out some locations and take a poll.

Alon and Placo,

I would like to join you guys even though I have no euroheadlights to install yet. Would love to check the DEPO ones because for the price, it's seems it would be a great option to have them.

Do you think anyone would mind ?

I volunteer to take the pictures for the eurolights DIY section.

Please agree on time and place. This weekend or next will be ok for me.

I would like to meet as well. Mine are installed already, but I haven't done the relays yet. I have the relay parts list and instructions from the Star article if anyone is interested.

Placo. you sound as impatient as I do. install now!!!

Anyone can come to the meet. It should be a great learning experience for those yet to install euros, those who just like to see nice cars taken apart, those seeking to meet up with some members and talk, everyone should come. But if we are going to do this, we need a place that we can.

1. Work on the cars
2. Be somewhere as central to where most people will be coming from to allow most to not have to drive far.
3. a time 9 am sounds fine to me
4. day. this saturday is quickly coming up, if I have all my parts by then, I'm all for it. If we need more planning, then next saturday is great too. Plus if we do it on next saturday, not this saturday, I will have my wood covered by aluminum, black, or wood look vinyl. for all to see.

I'm dying to meet up with as many as we can, so lets try to find a place that can hold us all and allow us to do what we plan on doing. a park would probably be a good place one that has lots of parking.

Ernesto,

You're definitely welcome to join the group, hopefully there will be a good turnout.

Actually my lights have not arrived yet either and I doubt they will before this weekend. Puma lighting takes a while unfortunately (2.5 weeks so far) so I'll probably do mine at a later date. I'm going to help others and learn how to do this.

I'm a perfectionist and when it comes to DIY I always go the extra mile to insure everything is done properly. When I do mine I'll probably clean everything and look for any deteriorated rubber that might need replacing.

I think a DIY Post is a great idea, I'm sure others will appreciate this info and I'll offer my assitance with taking pics if anyone has an extra digital camera.

Well no has made suggestions on where to meet. I'd suggest a park in Orange County somewhere.

Talking My DEPO euro lights...

...are also on their way, may be here by the end of the week. Alas, however, my weekend is already booked up; otherwise I'd join you guys for an "install-party."

Be sure to take lots of pics and post them here. Maybe even a digi-video, to put on a CD and distribute it...

I have a W126, but I am planning on putting Euros on my my daughter's 300TE.

Have fun you guys..........

e-code install suggesttion/ tip for the perfectionists:

>use the good 3M masking tape (blue color) to tape/ protect the top of the plastic bumpers & chrome pieces below the headlight units and any places you wish protected during the sliding out and inserting the new units

>a couple of rags to also protect the extraneous body pieces as may need to lean over the car on occasion

>latex/rubber gloves helps keep hands clean during the install while also ensuring that your bulbs w/ not collect oil from handling (alcohol may be needed to clean the glass bulbs prior to final install to ensure the cleanest surface)

>windex/ quick detailer for after-install clean up

>bring a roll of elec wire to do the city-lights (naturally solder, wire cutter/stripper, eye protection, and soldering iron too)- I used a small scrap piece of wood board over a rag as my worksurface over the car to wiring up the city lights

>take your time and enjoy the install

hope this helps

Thursday afternoon and we still do not have a place to get together ?

Ok, let's see who's coming to the event and from where ?

I'm at Southbay area ( Palos Verdes Peninsula ), and would glady offer my place, but unfortunately I do not have enough place to park cars and work confortably on them. Still I can look for a place around if you guys like to come over here.

Well not sure if we will meet htis weekend as the notice is short. I can do it sunday. Saturday I am going to go out with a girl I just met. A Car meet wasn't the kind of date I was thinking of... even though she does drive a benz... hehe

Sunday I'm totally available. I think next saturday will work well though.

Let me know. as I have the connectors arrived today. But I still don't have the wiper panels, and wont necessarily have them ready by install time. so until I have all my parts together and ready, I wont be doing the install. I'm going all out to do it fully the first time, rewiring with relays, etc right form the get go.

Plus I have to track down a butane soldering iron to use, if we are going to do this where there wont be any power plugs.

Lets actually set up a time. No matter how badly I want to install my euros, I can be patient, as I really want to have a meet, and a light install during the meet would be great fun and learning experience for all of us. I have all the instructions for the relays, aiming, installation etc already printed out and ready to go.

Well, this Sunday doesn't look to good for me. I was just given the opportunity to go up to Laguna Seca to see a Indy Car Race with possible pit passes, cant pass that up! I'll know on Friday afternoon if it's definite.

My preference at this point is next Saturday Morning around 9AM. Alon sounds like you'll have all your hardware together by that time and we can complete the install. I unfortunately still won't have my lights, they're do in on the 21st.

Ernesto you mentioned that there might be a park in the Southbay region we can all meet up at. I'm not exactly sure where Southbay is so any help would be appreciated.

Any one else interested please chime in. Once we know where everyone is coming from we can determine a central location that works best for everyone.

ok lets get this organized. I have all the parts waiting, wiper panels will be ready for install this weekend. I'm getting very impatient waiting on installing these babies.

If we don't do it this weekend, I fear I will install them and just show you all the pics.

If we can organize for saturday or sunday that would be great. We could possibly meet at my house in west la if everyone wants to do so.

Please let me know. My new toys have been calling me all week. "install me... install me... install me now!!!"

Its hard to refrain from installing them...

please stop my torment, and lets get a meet organized for this weekend. any time of day is fine with me.

Alon
