Angry Broke my hood latch thingy!!! Need to get the sucka open

I broke the little doohickey that pops out of the grill off yesterday on my '91 190E (is that a w210?).
Is there a way to get it open anyhow? Anybody know a good trick to do this?
Thank you in advance.

if you can track the cable down just pull on the cable from under the car.
Which part the plastic part or the actual cable?

Depending on where the hood latch broke you may be able to use a very small needle nose plier and pull the actuator forward to unlatch the hood.

I wish I had other suggestions, this could be quite a dilemma.

The easiest way w/o busting the grill screen (plastic insert) is to find a good pair of needle nosed pliers and just pull it out once you have released it from inside. The part you need is available at either Euro Motors or Amercian Service Center for a nominal fee. Probably like $9.00
