*****in' Rides - 300 SL Gullwing

Se 5 Ep 11

I was just watching the episode and as David was showing a client some design ideas I catch the gills of a 300SL in the back ground. They pull away for a wider shot and there is it. 300SL off the frame fully stripped down with the driver door open. Body looked like it had some steel showing through it it might be an original and not a kit/recreation.

I wonder what he is doing with it.

I hope not. That is a car that deserves to be restored. I sent them a email... may be they will respond.

I'm sure it will-much to valuable not to. Even incomplete parts cars are worth 6 figures.
Last summer I saw a couple from BC Canada driving around town in a w198 roadster. I talked to them for a minute. They were just driving down the coast on vacation in it.

As for the Biotching ride guy, based on his work with other cars I suspect he'll do some subtle things like the clothing magnate did with his, like eleminating the two joints in his bumpers, welding them and rechroming, and perhaps some subtle mods to the interior, perhaps he'll add AC. In the end I doubt the value will be hurt.

I found the episode on their site. The body is glass so not original. They put a LS engine in with about 740 hp. Made it dark green, red interior, lowered, custom alloys. Interior was kept pretty stock looking.

Here is the link.
