Back in the diesel game!

I haven't had a diesel since I sold my 300sd probably 5 years ago. Not anymore! JDM import of a Mitsu Delica. I'm already in love with this thing, it's as funky as it gets. Even for a Delica, this one is really unique since it was a TV van for a while. It has a lot of electronic mods and also a PTO for an underfloor mounted generator.

Drove it 7 hours home yesterday and realized all of the internet hearsay about them being difficult to drive is way overblown. This is less tippy then my explorer, just as fast (slow?) as my 300sd was, and pretty comfortable. RHD took some getting used to.

My other car is a Saturn sky which I thought got a ton of attention. This van is something else...everyone wants to ask me about it...parking lots, gas stations, honks and thumbs ups on the street everywhere. Not sure what the neighbors think though...

in the pic it is the basket and spare tire, as well as a "window" and box that put 2g wire up to something huge, probably the antenna power? no idea. The window is just a big piece of lexan or glass sealed in there...no idea why it is there but it doesnt leak.

Under the basket is clearly where they had a large extendable dish and antenna, think about your local news van. More mounts and sealed holes are in the roof, but I guess the wiring was a pain to rip out so they just capped everything.

Yep, RHD from what I gather Vancouver seems to have been the epicenter of these things in NA.

Thumbs up New Minivan

Looks like a nice one to me .

The RHD in a LHD situation is the only hard part, making safe passes is tricky in the best of times .

In the 1970's I went through a RHD phase and imported quite a few old air cooled VW's, lots of fun and always different.....

19mpg, which is pretty good considering it's a brick with a roof basket going 65mph down the road.
