I don't but the Romans did. They'd be ready for action by throwing off the blanket they wrapped around themselves.

All I know and can understand. If there was real pain involved in removing clothes and getting dressed. We are talking real misery here. I would not want to dress and undress any more than really needed either. It would be like self torture.

I know a lot of us members find this different like I do. Yet what other option is possible? Perhaps having someone else dress and undress you is about it in my mind. Fortunately my wife is still in pretty good shape but that is not always the case. So her assistance might be welcome.

Special designed clothes if practical also might be an option.

When I was in the Air Force, it was well known the B-52 bomber pilots slept in their flight gear ready to leap into action at a moment's notice.

The ready alert alarm would go off and we would hear the B-52s fully loaded with armed nukes start up and in the air within minutes......talk about a REALITY CHECK.

Post Sleeping Dressed

Sorry to hear others have to do this too .

I mostly sleep in a recliner for the same reason ~ too much pain involved in undressing and getting under the covers .

Getting old and crippled is no fun .

Yeah Nate sorry you have that trouble too,I was in a car wreck once and had fluid on my lungs, and could not lay down for pain. A bottle of Hennesy's and two qualudes was the only way I could sleep.Next morning fine, the fluid was gone.
Then I started comfrey root with applesauce.

For me, swimming is the most critical element of my life to reduce pain and stiffness.

Post Life Over Time

Fluid in the lungs, even a tiny bit, is a serious thing indeed .

In case of FIRE screw it ~ a chair through the window and out you go ~ smoke inhalation overcomes most who die in house fires, one breath and you're not likely to make it to the door much less the hallway, porch or other safety .

I'd go out starkers if I had to, better to be freezing my bum in the street with the neighbors laughing than dead or on oxygen for the rest of my miserable days .

For those who don't know : in house fires, the heat and smoke starts at the ceiling and comes _down_ rapidly ~ one of our teenage Foster boys burned us out of our house December 20th 2017, we're still in a rental, they're working on the house, no burn damage just heat and smoke ruined _everything_ in it, in less than 5 minutes .

Luckily they listened when I'd told them to grab the baby and GET OUT ~ the house was full of heat & smoke in about two minutes, melted everything from 5' up .

We had to open it to the studs for repairs .

SAFETY KNOWS NO SEASON ! .

I depend on VA healthcare,so I'd grab my medication first, then family. The VA will not replace medication, even if you have a police report.

I believe you can find shirts and pants with velcro instead of buttons and zippers. Supposed to work pretty well.
