MIA
I have been MIA of late since I went to the hospital on 5 DEC with embraic pneumonia. After a fast and accurate diagnosis, they drilled a hole in one rib while I was conscious, then stuck a tube in there to remove three quarts of infected material. Following that, a surgical team was assembled to create three incisions and use a bronchoscope to systematically clean out the entire lung and ensure that the most affected part would not collapse.
I have a high threshhold of pain, but one day after the anesthesia wore off in recovery, I woke up and heard this guy screaming. I didn't realize it was me. The nurse did and knocked me out for 6 hours after putting a special type of catheter on which I will not discuss. I was held in bed in a certain position. After another two days and multiple x-rays and blood draws, I was attached to a "gurgler" which draws out additional infection. One by one the tubes and lines were removed. But the real moment of release came when the catheter was removed. More to come. |
doctor's are savages, hope I go fast when death comes

Glad you are back and hope you are feeling a lot better very soon!
Good luck!!! |
Good to hear you're on your way to good health again. Hospitals suck..... glad to see you back here.
|
Wow, that sound excruciatingly painful. Glad you're back on the mend.
|
I feel for ya. I went through that about 6 years ago. It sure was a weird feeling when the, as I nicknamed it, the "soul sucker" kicked on wasn't it?
Yeah, I remember the pain. I also thought I was a tough nut until the anesthesia wore off. Make sure you get annual flu and scheduled pneumonia shots from now on. My ribs STILL freaking hurt when I work bent over or the weather changes. |
Eeeeeeeeoucheeeee.

I watch alot of documeteries. One is E.Rs and how they treat people. They cut their expensive clothes off, even if not bloody, leave them naked as jay birds, cold, screaming in pain. Could not lidocaine be used before chest tube,or numb a broken limb. They don't care,If they did me that way,I know I'd return, and bust their chops, and ask them if that hurt.

Glad to hear you're on the mend Strelnik. Take it easy. Heal well.

Medical Woes
YIKES  .
Glad to hear you're on the mend, any sort of fluid in the lungs is bad, very bad . People DIE in Hospitals ! :D . That's my lame assed excuse for not going unless there's a WAHHmbulance involved . OTOH, I've survived several 'fatal' incidents, mostly because of well trained and dedicated Doctors . Just like mechanics, there are good and bad ones . -DO- follow the post op and PT regimen ! . |
I keep a full pint bottle of injectable pennicillin VK in the frigde, and have lidocaine too.

Same goes for ANY profession. Only trouble with doctors is by the time you need one, you don't have time to check out their history of successes and failures!!! |
Doctors, Good And Bad
This is so hm but you always insist they're all bad when I know I'd not be here now but for several very talented and good hearted Doctors .
I too know stories about bad Doctors but they're not all bad . |
I remember having two tubes (hoses) in my chest cavity after by-pass surgery in 1991. It hurt like a son of a BEECH when they pulled them out. Yeeeow!:D
