I have a Sport Dog that I bought in 2015 and I am not impressed at all. The collar part has been replaced twice and the hand control has been replaced once. The collar is bad again I think. All it does is vibrate and make a tone. The shock part does not work anymore.

I just use it when I take Harper (Catahoula) outside in the yard. She is a hunting breed and sometimes she will lock on to a prey (squirrel, cat, bird ..etc) and lose her mind.

Any recommendations?

A fenced yard, my terriers blew right through the in ground (invisible) fence. The inground fence also does not keep any of that prey out of your yard, still leaving the chance for a battle if a grinner opossum or raccoon, or worse, skunk stroll through. I still get the occasional stupid varmint that sneaks through into the yard, then just get the separating tools out.

Electronic dog collar recommendations.?? If your dog is electronic just control it via wi-fi or bluetooth!

Ouch .

My pups are more or less like children to me so I cannot imagine hurting them .

I have fencing they cannot get past, nor can the damned coyotes get through / over .

Hunting Canines are tricky, maybe you can learn some better training regimen ? .

I'm looking at a collar that has tone/vibration/shock in the collar, not a.fence type system.

They do not hurt. I would not do anything to my dog that I would not do to my self. I tried th collar on my self before I put it on her. It's like putting your tongue to a 9v.

I treat my animals.like our kids.

She is pretty well behaved but there are times when we are out side and she locks.on to a squirrel or something and she is off. That prey instinct is hard.to over come.

She has become to used to the ecollar that all I use is the tone part of it and it snaps her out of her trance.

I never cared for the shock collars. I had a Rottie that used to pull real hard when I'd take him for a walk. A pinch collar fixed him of that pretty quickly, and we only had to use if for a few weeks til he got the point.

I'd never use a shock collar on my kids. A well trained dog will overcome the instinctive actions. My dogs are hand motion trained. I snap my fingers, and they pay full attention, looking for the next physical command. I have one trained on head nods, too.

A Woman I know tried a chock collar and said it was not nice .

My Pups are rescues and had been through hell before I got them, no collars for them, I have no issue with choke chains as it's the dogs choice to be choked or not .

Not all dogs are perfectly behaved and trained to respond to commands.

Harper is a good girl. She usually does what she is told but she's a dog.

I have decided to get a PetSafe E Collar. The price is good, received good reviews and it has a tone feature.

Done.

I think it really depends on the dog whether or not the shock/tone/vibrate collar works to control barking. My boy dog is a rescue, I got him when he was 6 months old. He acts like he owns the place and tends to bark at people that don't belong on his street (he thinks he owns the street too) and at squirrels in the yard. I must have tried a dozen different control collars, none work to control the barking for more than a week or so. He learns to bark a different way to not set them off, or he simply ignores the beep/buzz/shock that it emits. He's a well behaved dog and very well disciplined, but when he wants to bark at something, not much is gonna stop him!

Mines a.rescue as.well. she was wandering the street and decided our house was where she wanted to live. We did not put up.much of a fight😁.

Barking is not an issue. She barks when she is supposed to. I fact, we had a drink trying to get into our house a bout a year or two ago. 2
Two o'clock in th morning and I hear this weird growl. Told her to hush. Kept growling..... HUSH.... kept growling. Dude pounds on the door and she lost her mind. Dam near went through the door..... Okay... That is what that growl means.

Anyway...I'm just getting it control her when she misbehaves and endangers her self.out side....
