GM 3800 Series II V6's been igniting for decades. Multiple recalls and no resolution. In that case it appears to be a leaking manifold gasket dropping oil onto the hot exhaust. Would love to know if something similar is the case with the Korean bunch. Doesn't surprise me given what crap they are in the first place. The 2002 Rio I owned was the worst piece of junk I've ever seen right off the dealers lot. I vowed I'd never buy another Kia when I got rid of it. But people will insist on going cheap. Hyundai need to remove the heads from their asses and fix this right now. Or they need to be fined into bankruptcy. There may be and excuse for screwing up. ie Nobody is perfect. There is no excuse for trying to pretend there is no issue in this day and age of instant global communication where everybody can see everything that happens almost in real time.

what happened to good old aluminum intake manifolds? damn plastic,foam crap,aluminum blocks.Now they make aluminum front end parts.Next bearings too?

So that's why I saw a complementary case of marshmellows and coat hangers in the trunk. The complementary Cd burn baby burn was also a thoughtful touch.

What I did find odd was their advertising on the clip presented.

The Hyundia brand took a substantial sales hit last year. Perhaps it was word of the machined engine blocks not being cleaned out properly from metal cuttings. Got around. Lot of engine replacements resulted. Companies like Toyota have now gone to the five year warranty as others either have or are considering. This will impact them as well this year.

Re: GM 3800 - manifold gasket, or valve cover gasket? I can't see how even removal of the intake or exhaust manifolds themselves would cause an oil leak.

WTF? What is your problem with aluminum blocks?

The same leak also happens in nissan VQ35 engines and causes a fire too. didnt see any articles on those.
