I have about 600 miles on it and the engine is feeling happier....wants to rev up. It'll go pretty well!

With a bit over 10,000 miles the engine is much happier. The engine is turbochaged and now that it is broken in it really feels strong.

Volkswagon seems to be steadily increasing market share in our region. I am not sure if the majority are buying or leasing cars right now. They are not cheap in Canada as our dollar is worth about 30 percent less currently.

There was an older model up for sale locally. Very low overall millage and the last series of their cars that were almost bullet proof diesels. I suspect it is still available. I was thinking about it and still have the telephone number on my desk. This is the gls loaded up Jetta version. All the options still work as well.

We just have too many cars and all too soon I will not be doing the maintenance on cars myself. The price of it is nothing in todays world.

This is the type of vehicle guys starting out should aquire. For less than the original sales tax price you get a really good diesel car with perhaps ninety percent of the usable life still left in it. Plus they where not problematic.

Not easy to find but I seem to stumble across them several times per year now. Original older cars with very low original miles. In models that have had very good reputations.

Miles per gallon importance to me. Depends on how much the car is seeing in miles per month or year. For example the wives diesel Passat goes through about 140.00 dollars worth of fuel on a busy week for her. Could be more soon. Diesel fuel here currently is about five dollars an American gallon.

As for my own diesel I am not using it that heavily most of the time. A tank can last me weeks sometimes. So she keeps perhaps 60.00 a week in her pocket where I may only keep five dollars in mine by burning diesel fuel. Over gas.

Driving modern diesel engines is perhaps not the best ideal for low yearly millage users. Simply because the higher maintenance costs will easily eat up the difference. Expensive oils, oil filters and almost anything else needed. Can quickly kill off any miles per gallon benefit.

Where primarily heavier highway running with diesels for distances should reduce it somewhat. Her government expense account allows her 46 cents a kilometer or 73 cents a mile.

Yesterday I traded the all track in on a 015 Mercedes ml 250 d. So far I like it. It seems to be getting better fuel economy than the vw. ... slightly. Wish it was a stick. Ride and handling is better in most instances than the vw and it is rated to tow 6600#.
