Post A Cold & Wet Morning

Good to hear she's doing well .

I remember being destructive when I was very young, not entirely mindlessly so as then as now I'm always interested in what makes things tick .

You're right about the early deaths, I'm amazed I made it out alive and not punked .

Some of them I'm able to reach, it takes a lot of patience .

Children naturally seek limits and when no one cares they'll go wild and can become very dangerous .

Right now it's a thing with the alt right to brag about having no empathy .

I am ever so lucky that some took the time to try and set me straight occasionally way back when .

In a neighborhood not too far from mine there was an old raggedy brick building that was a corner store, they used it in lots of movies but the owners didn't take any kind of care of it, one of those places where originally the shopkeeper lived in the second floor, no glass in the upstairs windows, I have no idea how they managed to keep a city permit .

It caught fire and that was that ~ the city refused repair permits so after a time it was torn down for the bricks, sat empty a while then was made into a community garden, for a couple years I'd see desultory working going on then that too was abandoned, last week I noticed new signs on the fencing, Habitat For Humanity will be building their little houses soon I guess .

People need places to live, I just wish some sort of after care would be provided, either keep it clean or you can't stay there, basics like that .

There's a real darth of foster homes out here now .

Post Later

It's Friday and one of my teenage foster boys just came in asking me why the washing machine smells like pot.....

I thought he was joking or maybe smelling something really funky but I walked into that room and Lo ! it stank of canibus .(?SP?)

My Sweet's great grand daughter and her boyfriend are vipers and toke up in her room with the door closed and windows open, not my house so I can't say anything .

Anyway, her clothes are often permeated with the smell and it seems she washed some particularly THC infused clothes.....

How am I supposed to teach these boys ? .

The community garden I mentioned last time ? .

They've decided to build "tiny homes" fpor the homeless there, I'm interested to see how that works out, it's not a good neighborhood after dark but still lots of families .

Teeming humanity. With many obviously being really squeezed with the current inflation up here in Canada.

If all some get is a marginal existence out of working. I have thought slavery may be alive and well. Economic slavery deprives people of many so called rights. With no affordability many freedoms are basically denied. Many things I observe do not seem reasonable.

Exclamation "Teeming Humanity"

You said it .

So easy to make things better for everyone yet the 1% deny those what theirs by right and some how manage to teach those they want to enslave that's this is all a good thing .

Los Angeles is getting *very* crowded, I still remember strawberry fields just East of downtown L.A. .

Building cities larger and larger. In the face of the problems that develop. Needs a real rethink. It was a necessity in the industrial period. I just feel that period has pretty much passed.

Even the supply system to sustain them is becoming an issue. Local food producers here are setting up for local sales. I believe they have just gotten tired of being manipulated by a system. That was originally designed to support the cities for the industrial era.

The corporations are now aggressive. In taking more than their fair share out of production. That supports the general population. Locally they do not seem very happy about these recent changes.

To the extent of offering to buy locally and pay fair prices to producers to stop it. Independent small stores are setting up to sell food owned by the producers as well.

The corporations really do not like this at all. The only thing that suprises me is they have not found a way yet to make the government stop it.

Exclamation Well Damn

I took one boy to the Doctor today, he'd fallen in a football game and landed on a brick (?! IDK how) and they weighed him in at 282 pounds, he's under 5'10" .

Wow .

Genetics or fat. Strongest friend I ever had his size might be confused as fat. It was anything but. No evidence of a body builder type build. Yet he was unbelievably powerful.

Gentle and smart by nature. I was certain if he ever got his hands on anybody he could kill them easily. Actually he was the uncle of the Rock a current movie star.

He has passed on now but also was quite the character. He would have made twice the star that his nephew has achieved I always suspected. With his almost unique personality.

He was also the best professional buyer I have ever seen. Had a photographic type memory as well.

Post Genetics

Could be either ~ his mother is very obese, this seems to be the usual case with Foster kids parents .

He's about to turn 16 and in the last 12 months or so I've noticed a change from blubber to muscles, I don't think he'll ever be a lightweight .

He's a good bay and I can also see his mind changing from child to adult, I remember my teenage years, whew .

He's beginning to lay foot ball, I always encourage them to play any sport or walk .

It sounds like you are doing all the right things with those boys Nate. Lucky for them you are retired and can spend time with them.

My Son's thee boys are all turning into men the last year or so. They are very active and lift and do a lot of pushups. All three are very handsome too. I am afraid I may be losing my helper with the race car to puberty. I was afraid of that and now it is happening. Perhaps I can get him back when school is out.

I am afraid their desire to be with the girls will cause them big trouble.

God Knows, I'm Trying

I hope so, I'd hate to be a teenager now .

I stupidly got my high school girlfriend pregnant, she was scared and so did nothing and gave my son away .

I'll always wonder how he's doing .

I taught my grandsons, that If your so weak to need a crutch in life, that pot was safer than drinking. Neither use, as no one wants to appear weak minded.

Talking There You Go !

I understand pot to be a depressant so no wonder today's children want to blot everything out .

Me too sometimes but I don't like being high or drunk .

Your grand kids will be far ahead of the stoners....

Unhappy Wednesday 6.9.22

Well, damn ;

I was going to write a nice post about our more troubled foster boy who now has an attendance award and has raised up his GPA to 3.5, he says he wants to succeed and show those who tell him he can't .

Sadly, the other boy came home from his school announcing there was a shooting at the entry gate today, not a good thing .

Like Tom I must comment you for your efforts. You and your better half deal with a very hard age group. The important formative years are before five usually.

Children are getting it today. The huge wage gap is becoming more than obvious out there now. The realization that to get on the higher side of it now requires working at it to get there. I am seeing more of this awareness feedback all the time. I suspect we are entering a new era. That will further pressure children.

Children have to learn at home as well as at school. Such mundane tasks as teaching them how to shop at grocery stores are actually important to them. Teaching them the things that are really not covered at school. Just builds up their self confidence.

How to use and understand tools like multimeters. Now replaced with digital meters. All guys should have a basic knowledge of electricity. The concept is to stimulate or even start to develop their imaginations.
