Separated turned out to be a good thing because my wife barrowed a lot of money and sent it off to a sick relative and ended up filing chapter 13 which she is currently paying off. You were lucky. Most are not. Personally all that was accumulated together was subject to a fair division in my mind if a divorce scenario had ever occurred in my situation.

Once a family with children is established divorce has many downsides. Yet certain couples cannot live together after any form of marriage breakdown. It would become a living hell.

In our case the wife has enough smarts to understand more than an average person can. She also understands I have always done the best I can. So even after all these years I believe we still have a pretty healthy relationship. Perhaps just blind luck on my part is a distinct possibility.

Her ex decided to drop his foolishness , no money to be had - his new girl friend was envious my sweet has a fine house and they're living in a crappy apartment and so convinced him to try and get $ from her....

I'd say you're a lucky man .

The chemistry is what holds the marriage to - gether in the long run, if you like each other you'll find ways to work with / around the bumps in the road that come up .

Few achieve this, be satisfied .

I've been divorced longer than I was married, I married at a young age .
