Anyone watching the CBD industry?

Big day today with all the discussion on CSPAM with the FDA.

Based on how much CBD business is going on out there it seems that they have the cart before the horse. That train has done left the station. The lovely Ms engatwork (nurse) told me that there is now one of the pain clinics in Savannah that is recommending ppl try CBD oil for some of their ailments.

I've been taking it for almost a year now and no longer suffer from arthritis and no longer have any lower back pain.

I've tried it off and on. It is legal in IN. I bough some from Native American Shaman. I think it was $70 a bottle. It seemed to work a bit for me. I did talk to one dealer. His info was it does not work for 20% of people. Then there is the grade of the product. Or how fine the particles are for absorption. Also, some is THC free, and others have trace amounts. Mainly, if you are drug screened. One of my co workers son in law, was canned as he used OBD oil or the results were switched.
Since this stuff does help many, I hope it gets more accepted. Some Granny was arrested at Disney for having a bottle of it. Also, the NFL is looking into marijuana use and other alternatives. I think a step in the right direction.

Devil weed worshippers belong in JAIL. Lock em up and throw away the keys. The only good pothead is a incarcerated pothead.

Suprising the amount of people that have told me they use weed. Even before it reciently became legal up here in Canada. We are not talking about people that live in a blue cloud either.

Personally I do not feel the need. I seem to function well enough without needing either stimulation or the pain moderation effect it produces for many.

I understand pain well enough that relief from it if found. Is more likely to be engaged than not.

The Cheek and Chong classic movies will always be there. Perhaps even more relevant today than when originally produced.

I have a guy who rents a 1,900 square foot store front from me who has a CBD Oil business. He must be making good money as he has been there over a year and pays me the $1,580 a month for it. Every time I go in to collect rent they are busy as can be! Lots of older people seem to be flocking to it. If God forbid I had pain I would use it if need be.

A very knowledgeable worker in a Colorado pot store a couple of years ago claimed to me that a little bit of THC somehow actuates the effects of CBD and that without the THC, results aren't nearly as good.
I tried the OTC CBD for several complaints and found that it did nothing for me. Wanting to test it against placebo effect, I've tried it extensively on a horse and an older, arthritic goat here on the ranch. While I know several horsemen who claim it works, I had no luck on either the horse or the goat.
I recently acquired a MMJ card, and can buy pot legally. I can report that I have been using what is essentially a hash oil product called RSO oil which is formulated at a THC : CBD ratio of 1:28. Works very well and as I take it at night there's little to no buzz. Never liked the pot high, stupid and lethargic enough by nature. I see the legal CBD biz as essentially an "entry drug" that will be good for promoting legal marijuana. It's changing people's minds about the weed. Witness the older folks buying CBD, many who have probably never thought of smoking marijuana. Chances are they'd try MMJ instead if it was legal.

FWIW,

Although I don't partake, I've known cancer patients since the 1970's who needed to et high so they could eat and it's also supposed to help glaucoma .

'Round here it's all bull crap stoners 'wink, wink, nudge, nudge knowhutimean' types .

I doubt all stoners need to be put in jail but I'd rather they not share the roads with me .

Of note I really am not a user. When legalized in Canada. I thought the price would go down. Instead it appears to be higher. Plus the legal retailers seem unable to get adaquate supplies.

I believe because of the price increase so called illegal sources of supply are probably doing okay still.

Of note also you can legally grow four plants for self consumption. Probably that is four plants per household as otherwise the wife and kids could each grow four as well I suppose.

I have not done any investigation of why they smell so much. That probably limits them to growing in rural areas though. Legalization came with no really big fuss. I assume that people in cities trying to grow their four plants will have real issues with the neighbors over the stench.

They say and it is only hearsay to me that a good plant is worth a thousand dollars. Some massive indoor growing operations are getting underway in surplus factories in Canada. There is more legal demand than supply for perhaps the forseeable period.

Sold legally I have never heard what the federal tax is on the product. There will be one in there though. I always felt in the run up to making it legal this was a strong reason why. The only price I can quote is a cigarette with good product is 15.00. Plus sales tax probably. With poor grade product being about ten dollars.

Post NO Shortage

The news (North America) reported last week that there is currently a large surplus of un sold pot from this year's harvest ~ millions of tons .

A few years ago we buried Pops in Colorado and as I was passing through Cortez, Co. I smelled green, drying pot very strongly, it turned out that in the middle of town right on the main drag, was a pot processing factory in an old larg big box store building .

It doesn't take much space to grow lots of these plants, just some water and electricity for the grow lamps .

I don't partake but am interested in looking at the farming aspect of it as I was a farmer in the 1960's and am curious how / what they do .

There's a dried up nearly dead town just East of Baker, Ca. that's being turned into a commercial pot farm, sounds interesting to me .

? Maybe Americans are not allowed to ship their pot into Canada ? .

I've got a bunch of stock in Canopy Growth which is a Canadian company traded on the NYSE.

Perhaps they are not allowed to ship it into Canada.. I suspect obtaining a legal commercial growing licence. To service the legal market would be difficult in Canada. I have not heard anything so it is just a strong suspicion.

What is odd is I have seen no reference of the federal or provincial tax amounts that are applied to the product. I did hear there was a sticker on the legal product though. If the tax is really excessive it may not leave a very rosy picture for the growers. Deserted commercial retail malls are becoming more common and might present good opportunities for legal growers.

Again I am not positive but think you have to present your drivers licence when purchasing legally. The initial response was far greater than expected when it was first legalized. Many legal outlets have closed down until more supply is available. In one province if not more.. The provincial governments own the retail outlets. Hopefully a Canadian user can come forward and present a more accurate picture.

I suspect there will be a lot of resistance for legalization in America. It would represent a substantial hit on the huge private commercial prison system. There exists another factor there as well. Why is the average prison sentence in America four times greater than the equivalent in other developed countries? Why does that exist at all?

Yes under state law. I thought no federal approval yet.

A problem with pot was it seemed to go hand in glove with the prison scene. That is why I mentioned it in another post. Judging by the incarceration rate in America. The private prison business will be large and very powerful.

If keeping pot illegal as much as possible is good for them. How much influence would they have?
