Post Incompetent Doctors

This is rampant ~

I've had a few with Kaiser and one flat lied to me so I complained to the upper management and Lo ! I got a wonderful Neurosurgeon for my neck fusion .

Red face Still Plugging Along

Oh yeah ~ my fantastic Neuro surgeon looked at my X-Rays and said "I've never seen this much damage and the patient still ambulatory .

The fusion of best done from the front, this leaves a nasty scar and I have some breathing & swallowing issues but I'm wanting to live now as I wasn't before he went in .

He took 4 - 1/2 hours after he opened me up, said it was a mess .

Like most of our for fathers whom were Tradesmen, my body is all beat up and broken, the difference is : modern medicine makes it possible to keep on living .

The thrill isn't yet gone for me, I lived the 1960's and want to see what happens next plus grand kids and great grand son too .

I've been very, very lucky in life .

Shot in the face with a .401 shotgun and not a scratch ~ explain that if you can .

On and on....

You're doing O.K. Nate, keep on keeping on please .

The only issue I have had going to VA Hospital and clinic is that they canceled appointments with no reason given. They said my Doc retired (or perhaps died and they just said she retired) and for 4 months except for an emergency I had no medical doctor to see for my routine stuff.

The Vets seem normally happy were I am.

I had started taking prednisone about the same time I was being evaluated for a hernia operation. I had to lower my blood pressure to get the operation. The combination of the prednisone and the blood presser med put my blood pressure all over the map; sometimes too low and sometimes too high.
Stopped taking the prednisone and the blood pressure med worked fine.

Note the VA would not do the hernia operation till my blood pressure was down despite the fact that I had a hip replacement (done at the county hospital) with the same high blood pressure.

So I give a 95% rating on my VA experiences.

As a taxpayer and veteran, I think we owe veterans excellent healthcare for any and all service-related medical issues. That’s all. Nothing else.

It is very important to educate yourself about health issues, if possible. Most doctors have an ever increasing work load. Everyone living is getting older and will have more health problems.

I read extensively now that I'm my parents age when they died and would like to live a few more years if still able to move around, read, communicate, etc.... Don't want to be a vegetable. That's not good for the person or family.

With study/reading I've found a few interesting things.

Chemotherapy is one of the ' gold standards ' for cancer. I found that one of the most common chemo drugs types 5FU/capacetibine/xeloda can kill and cause serious health problems within a few days.

There is a test to see if a person might be susceptile to that chemo, but insurance doesn't pay for the test ( typically ). Most doctors seem to not tell you about the possibility you might die or be serious affected. They also seem to start the patient out with a massive first dose of multiple chemos.

This website is one of a few that discusses what is called DPD deficiency.

https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/cancer-in-general/treatment/chemotherapy/side-effects/dpd-deficiency

I would expect most of us older folks has known someone that got seriously ill or died soon after starting chemo. This deficiency is a likely cause of why that happened.

Recently I've read that some doctors are becoming more aware of the problem and are trying to have the test provided.

That's one of the reasons I refused initial chemo and finally was able to have the test given.

I would inject cannibis concentrate before any chemo.During a fast also. I think we humans have been conditioned to spend money to eat 3 times a day. Our body never gets a chance to eat the bad fats in our bodies.Wood pulp is in most all of our foods now. We are not termites.

It’s so annoying to find a parking spot at Whole Foods when the lot is swollen with Welfare Cadillacs...

Post Pains

Nate,is it a surface scar that hurts or the deeper scar ? .

I ask because kaiser screwed up on my first inguinal hernia, it ripped in post op and I bled like a stuck pig, they sent me home any way, I had to go back and have it re done, now the inner scar feels like a piece of tug boat hawser underneath my skin and it huts most of the time and always if I touch it, even gently .

Maybe you can write your Senator / Congressman (? person ?) and ask for a bit of help with the V.A., God knows you did your part and earned proper health care .
