Well...I don't live in poland so I don't know very much about benzes in Poland. On the other hand...I live in Finland and I know that it would be quite hard to find a used w126 here. Finland is a bit norther of poland Hopefully the situation is not the same over there.

The problem seems to be that all people that owns a car like this uses it until they put it in a junkyard. This is the case in finland. And it would be very hard to find nice looking examples. They are rare...

This is just some thoughts of mine, NOT facts.

But I hope you find one... It's expensive to rent one.

How are other Mercedes car in Finland? Are they more affordable compared to other cars? Or are they still expensive. (dumb question as I come to think of it... everything is expensive in Europe)

Unfortunatly...benzes are very expensive in Finland. The value of a second hand benz is more than a new toyota.

No offence to all the toyota drivers...

$47,000 USD for a 1986 Mercedes? Wow.. you could buy the car here in the USA and ship it to Finland and still had money left over.

Yes, I know...

In FInland we got a very expesive tax system on the cars. And the bad news is it's even worse if you try to import a car from another country.

For example...in german benzes are much cheaper but their car taxes are totally different.

Anyone from Europe?

I will be in Europe(poland area) for the next two months visiting. I am curious as to know how much w126's sell for there. I would imagine they would be cheaper than here in the US, but I am not sure. Would you be able to find a decent w126 sedan or coupe there for around $2-3 USD? A family member checked out a rental and its kinda expensive compared to what we usually find here in the US. Just curious as to what you have to say.

Well I got a bunch of classified ads for cars in Poland and it seems that 126's arent cheap at all. 123's are practically free, in the under 1000 range, but 126's are similar prices to here. 124s are a little cheaper then here, but not by much. I guess 126's are just not as common since they are so big, and hence sell for more.

Maybe I'll scan some ads for you later today.

BTW, there is a large import tax on new and used cars in many European countries. If you go straight to the source, Deutschland, where the 126 supply far exceeds the demand, you can get them cheap, or so says my uncle who drives 80's Mercs exclusively.

Here you go, looks like the 280SE's are pretty cheap. And apparently the euro 2.8 is far superior to the US 3.0.

BTW, 1 USD = 4-5 ZL

This photo will only work for 24 hours.

Any suggestions maybe for a sedan? I was thinking about the w126, but gas comes to my mind and I remember how crazy the gas prices where last yeat. I am looking for some car that I can clean up and make it a decent car again.

The 190 E comes to mind, in either 2.0 or 2.3 litre form. Small, sporty and certainly doesnt eat much gas, plus its pretty cheap, looks like 2 - 3 k USD will do it for a mid 80s one, probably in decent shape.

Snibble

I'm very sorry but the price for the benz was 50000 finnish marks. Last new year we changed currency to euros and the 50k is about 8500 euros.

Silly me...otherwise it would've been the perfect rip-off...
