I've driven a couple of Hyundais and was pretty impressed for what they cost.

Cheap Imports
I know everyone loves to bag on the entry level imports and call them 'penalty boxes' but in fact some of them are in fact just fine and will soldier on for a decade or more with basic routine care .
I'm told the Nissan "Versa" (I *think*), a tiny little four door auto, doesn't come with air conditioning (!?!) . I was looking a nice "smart" car in my favorite junkyard, it had a small dent in the L/F bumper , they put it in the yard and it's mostly stripped over one week . I was told that used smart cars have close to zero resale value and don't understand why not .

Quality wise they seem to fall in somewhere between the big three and the Japanese. They have taken the big threes share of the car market locally. You also see more and more on the road locally. I noticed a few brands seemed threatened enough they have copied their five year 60K warranty. Including Toyota. Their Automatics seem fine and durable. They have had engine issues though of some signifigance. Goodwill on most of them after warranty. Not all though. |
