Anyone who knows anything about the world of marketing and advertising knows that manufacturers designate a "death date" the moment a new model is introduced. Out with the C7, in with the C8. BTW, many of the new C8s are headed straight into the hands of collectors.
At $150K, GM hopes to position the car to compete with the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini. |

After a few years of the C8, you'll be able to pick up an older model for less $$$$$$.........

Chevy is not going to sell a lot of Vetts at $150k a copy. Their bread and butter is on the base Vette which will probably be in the $60k-$70k range as the linked article suggests. Sure, there may be a top end version for $150k but that will not be the avg cost of a Vette. In 2016, Chevy sold over 40,000 copies.

Some very wealthy guy perhaps paid the 2.7M. As an investment I do not think because it is the last one is going to enhance the value that much. Possibly he was more interested in supporting the cause.

I am highly surprised the OPer is not crying about the !% get all of the breaks. That 2.7 mil less 30% tax write off, only cost him around 1.8 mil. after charitable donation write off if applicable.

Auction collectors (and vette) collectors are so weird to me. First and last off the assembly line command huge bucks, mathcing numbers originals, museum pieces with 6 miles on them, etc. Ill never understand.
These first and last vins always go for a ton since they are often write offs in the form of charitable donations.

I do not get the idea of buying a car and then parking it. Cars were designed and built to drive. If I were fortunate enough to get mu hands on any number of desirable cars, I would want to drive the wheels off it. That is one of the reasons I really like Jay Leno. He drives all his cars. They are not just on display.

I often wondered as a kid,why older people always had a mean look,or short temper.
I know now, pain from wear and tear.Short nerves from abuse by the wealthy, and powerful. Since 1890 no one in western society, has enjoyed life, except the dishonest, wealthy

Wrong, your opinion only. Like most democrats that want everyone poor, dependent on them. At that point there will be some happy poor and the same amount of crybabies that are broke. That will not change.

I knew a guy in high school who had a red convertible 1966 corvette with a 427 engine. Girls were crawling all over him and the car.....

If he'd been fat, ugly, and smelly they might have tried to get his money but I doubt he would gotten 'tang based on the car.
Some people say the thing Ferraris are best at is pulling gold diggers.

recently heard of an old fart who moved to Florida. His ride was a Lincoln continental; apparently the young things weren't going for it. He sold the Lincoln and bought a convertible mustang and instantly he had all the bikinis he could hope for!!
