Question; has anyone purchased cars, trucks or subs from copart.com and if so, did you have any problems buying insurance for salvage title vehicle?

Typically it's impossible to get collision coverage on salvage vehicles, other than that no problems in California .

Thank you for the reply. That would make sense although I am wondering if a newly wrecked vehicle were put through serious non-destructive testing (x-ray, metal fatigue, etc.) it might be possible to prove to the insurance company the car, SUV or truck met safety standards??

Doesn't matter ~ once the title is branded, that's that .

There are some ways to 'wash' the title and get that "salvage " or "reconstructed" branding off but it's not always successful .

I don't care because once you're dealing with any such vehicle the price should be so low you just drive it and if it gets wrecked you scrap it ~ how many collisions have you had in the last 10 years ? .

The $ saved by not paying for the collision insurance is quite a bit and should allow you to write off any serious damage and start over or, if it's not bad just get it fixed and drive on .

Some really seriously good deals can be had when looking at salvage vehicles, avoid flood damage and major collision damage, there's plenty of really sweet theft recovery and minor damage ones out there On The Cheap .

Purchased 6 to date. Love it. Always at least $4k+ equity in every buy. My current 2000 Buick Regal beater was $800 with 70k on the clock in 2012. Was in impeccable condition less passenger door (rear) and quarter panel damage. Now 180k on the clock. I picked up 2017 Dodge Ram Promaster City for $7200 last March. I fixed it for $87 bucks and $350 just a few months ago for a rear bumper which was a total cosmetic deal as my wife did not like 100% my repair job. My Ram has at least $7k+ equity. No issues selling them or insuring them.

Buy no reserve cars. Make sure they come with keys. Make sure it runs and drives

Many times the damage is really very little. The customer demands reduced value compensation as well. From the car being in an accident that was not their fault. So the car gets written off.

I do not buy them but they can be great value wise. If you keep them for years. Eventually even if they have a salvage title it probably does not matter much.

A daughter and her husband are in the process of selling a large auto wrecking concern in northern Ontario. They get most the insurance deals in a wide area. It is three and a half hours to their nearest competition. They ship parts steadily to everywhere.

A larger chain of wreckers was interested in them. They had issues that the amount of money the place was generating. Was from the son in law being the owner. They tried a low ball price and came back with a him financing a deal at his price. He said no to both. The use of his arms is shot and they want out clean.

Between multiple ongoing operations he has for the problem our daughter is running the operation a lot. They are due here later this month.I found out a few days ago. He has another operation scheduled before now and then. So it is not certain yet. I may ask for an insurance car as they are selling out. I think the daughter is trying to convince him to locate here in the maritimes.

I was originally surprised there was a mile and a half of roads in their operation. The also want to live in a warmer climate. Even though the operation has been running for twenty five years. All the heavy equipment is very current. I would not mind buying a rubber tired front end loader from them if I were younger. A snowplowing seasonal mall contract for it could be arranged.
