all that means is the tax cuts for the wealthy worked,now they can gamble more on stocks.for economy to last min.wage needs to be $20. a hour min.Then people can afford $1200 rents,and $400 car payments.But no repukes are to stupid, and Dems worry about non citizens and their healthcare.
A higher wage also collect more taxes,and social security,less debt.

The most expensive places to live are BLUE CITIES. 600 Sq Ft condo rents for $3,200.00 a month in San Francisco (that's a cheap one). Is it any wonder Dems want to force companies to raise the minimum wage to help fund their rents?

Fact is there will NEVER be a satisfactory minimum wage... unless you really think rents will stop going up.

As for cars... better options for the poor buying a USED vehicle.

Trump Tax Cuts really helped the poor and everyone who doesn't itemize deductions. But all Dems focus on is how they effected the rich.

I would hope most do know what the daily closing figure means, but it's not really all that relevant to Everyday Joe. I'm more concerned with happens within what I trade and what the quarterly statements show. A few up days and a few down days are a given. For me personally, the past few years have been a comfortable net positive. I am also aware of how that can change quickly. I learned the hard way early on...don't keep all the eggs in one basket, so to speak.

In my state of ILLinois, the graduated minimum wage hike is doing exactly the opposite of what those pushing for it expected. It's hitting small businesses pretty hard. We are toeing the line trying to keep costs in check. Does that mean we can't hire those 2-3 extra high school kids for a part-time summer or after school job? You can bet your ass it does. Bump a part-timer into a full time role with benefits? Nope. Eliminate a position here and there? Yep. And we're just in the first stages. It will get much worse over the next few years.

To the OP title "democrats can't destroy this". they are feverishly trying to destroy it , and will continue to praise it in the debates

I can only hope all of those low level, excluding new to the work place that voted for higher minimum wage increase stay there and not relocate to the great state of Indiana.

Minimum wage increases out of reason, say rapidly doubling it as proposed now, has a number of ill effects. Before you all stand up and start shouting, I won't address any potential "job losses".

What DOES happen is shortening Hours Worked and in some cases workers replaced by automation. Shorter work weeks benefit no-one except the employers. Shorter work weeks relieve the employers from the necessity to provide benefits and result in an overall productivity increase.

Automation requires investment in process which will stay in the future. Workers displaced by automation will not come back to work in their same capacity. True, many can be retrained in other fields but the entry level jobs will be gone forever. Those that feel the pinch will be the least educated, the poorest and for those of you professing to "care so much" the immigrants escaping the tyranny of lower wages in their home countries.

Of course wage increases are a given but such increases must be measured, not slugged.

The problem is Blue States, and what they charge for housing.

You think that the rent in an underpopulated, underdeveloped portion of a blue state is significantly more than that of a comparable area in a red state?
