Share some of your favorite 'off the beaten path' routes to help everyone explore various areas around them.

Howdy All,
Tollhouse road! Get on hwy 168 somewhere in Fresno. Go on that for a while until the turnoff to the right for Tollhouse Rd. It will go to Humphrys (sp?) then through Tollhouse and then wind up the mountain to reconnect with 168. Take that up to Shaver Lake and then decide what to do from there.

One of my favorite drives is from Seattle to Tonasket, WA, a little town about 20 miles south of Canada. My preferred route is over Stevens Pass, left at Wenatchee and up highway 97 along the Columbia river. Another route is over the lower and less scenic Snoqualmie pass (I-90) then left up Blewett Pass to Wenatchee. The better part of the drive is north from Wenatchee, the apple capital. You can see little orchards on the banks of the Columbia for much of the route. The hills and buttes are wild.

But Stevens Pass is pretty wild as well. The first town you come to as you come out of the Mountains is Leavenworth, made up decades ago to look like a Bavarian village. Not a bad job all in all. Brings in the tourist dollars.

Post Good Routes

As an avid Motocyclist and driver I love the Blue Roads and have found many by reading 'Free 2 Wheel' ~ a small newspaper that's free at many 'Cycle Shops.....

PCH North ofL.A. is nice, it's gets *much* better North of S.F. .

Plenty or good roads inland of the S.D. area too just watch out for the Reservation Cops as they don't like to cut any slack to speeders .

Mt. Palomar was nice decades ago but ignorant squids and fools on bicycles have made it very dangerous these days .

Howdy All,
Hwy 33. Catch it from the 101 in Ventura. It is mostly a freeway up to Casitas Springs. It might have changed since I was there. Continue into Ojai. Once through the town it gets better. Take it up to 166.

From Chicago to IL/WI boarder to fish Lake Michigan. Liked to take Sheridan Rd and see how the other half lived. Old lakeshore mansions before "McMansions" were everywhere.

I wanna do that one. We did the one from Seattle to SF about ten years ago, what a nice trip! Due to the lack of development in North Ca we slept in motels right on the beach every night for less than $100 each.

There is a straight country road near my house with a few miles of curves on the way to it. No phone poles for about a mile. It is my secret place to go fast.
