home window sliding panel (sash) removal problem

I am stuck in removing a sliding window panel on which the glass broke) - its a single pane type aluminum one and the home was built in 1999. On all such panels Ive come across - sliding to a "free" position or removing a blocking piece was required and you just lift the window up and it tilts out.

In this one - I cannot for the life of me get it to lift enough to free the lower track, there are no blocking pieces either - the only small blocking piece I found was a tiny plastic one that was on the window handle, it removes to expose a clearance point.

But I cannot lift it enough to clear the lower track, its 1/4 inch short of clearing it.

Do I have to get a special tool or is there some spring on the top rollers?

Ordering parts from EBAY &/or ********, gotcha's to know about

EBAY says they will resolve this, but wanted y'all to be aware of it.

If you order a car part that EBAY & the seller says 'will fit ' your entered vehicle type,

and it arrives and will ' not fit ' because it is the wrong part number,

do not choose ' will not fit ' as the reason for returning. EBAY considers this a buyers remorse reason and will insist that you pay for return shipping. Choose instead ' item not as described ', then the seller pays for return shipping.

EBAY customer representative told me they would correct their wording to something like ' not the correct size ' instead of ' will not fit '. Hopefully they do that. This would then cover items like clothing that might not fit due to a size problem. They agreed that auto parts might not ' fit ' due to wrong part being sent.

EBAY wanted to charge me over $60 dollars to return an item that only cost $64 to purchase including free shipping. Luckily after the 3rd phone call they seem to have agreed that their computer wording is wrong and will not ask me to pay for return shipping.....

The other company to watch out for is R O C K A UT O, they would not accept a part return request for a part that was sent to me and was the wrong part number for my car. They also will not accept any ' customer service ' calls to discuss the issue. This cost me $138 for a part stated to fit my car, but was totally different than what was needed. I was left with no recourse except to limit items ordered from them.

Windows, Rock Auto & E-Bay

If you can find the brand or model # decal on the window frame maybe there's a you tube video that will help ? .

I got burned a few times on E-bay, once you've paid you're on your own .

Rock Auto OTOH, is very good about returns and once a guy called me at 8PM on a Sunday (! SUNDAY !) to make sure I was happy and to give me the call tag (free return shipping label) info on a carby I thought was bad, maybe it wasn't in retrospect .

They also replaced the "rebuilt" master cylinder I received as part of a rebuilt vacuum assist power brake assy. that came to me with damaged and poorly attempted thread repairs where the brake pipe screws in .

I asked where to ship the bad 'rebuilt" master cylinder and the guy on the 'phone said 'just toss it out or keep it for pats" .

I hate aluminum master cylinders for just this reason .

They sent me NO CHARGE a brandy new one .

I have received the wrong points for other old vehicles from Rock Auto, at $10 I wasn't willing to fight about it, and just tossed them out .

Rock Auto isn't always cost effective and they charge a fair amount shipping so it pays to research before clicking "buy now" .
