O.K., I live in the foothills and there's plenty of Opossum, Racoon and Coyotes, the occasional Bob Car and Bear, want to come clean up and get some free meat ? .

Step one, if in a hurry use beer instead of water.

Why would it be a PITA for PETA to complain about this thread?

Yeah a good .22 pellet gun will get the job done. Is it rifled or smoothbore? The advantage to .22 shorts is the rifling for better accuracy.

Squirrel tastes okay IF, they are very fresh and the cook knows how to deal with game. My late mother in law was a depression era woman that could make a gourmet meal out of most game or fish. Unfortunately she’s long gone and I never learned her secrets. Her best dish with squirrel was squirrel and dumplings. My son and I obliged her. She always appreciated that we shot them with a .22 instead of a shotgun.

Talking The Proper Shootin' Iron

O.K., last night I stopped by Big 5 Sporting Goods store to buy some more un coated steel BB''s (they're the shiznit for cleaning old fuel tanks, I'm working on a 1984 Brazilian Honda CB125S) and they had two versions of the Red Ryder BB gun in the fancy box with pictures.....

One was the " ADULT SIZE" one .

$17 they said .

I don't think I'll be potting squirrels in my inner city neighborhood in any event, too many prying eyes .

Sadly, no compass in the stock like in the movie .

I am not gun shy, I'm a firearm owner in fact .

I just live in the city and there are many who'd love to mind my business for me....

I bought a havaheart trap, it was so poorly made it wouldn't work (not what I remembered from 50 + years ago) .

So, I bought a rat zapper, it caught a few rats but never a squirrel .

Build a good live trap and bait it properly. Should thin out a local population quick enough.
