I have been fortunate accident wise over many decades. Rather than being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I feel it is being in the right place at the wrong time that gets you into them.

Yet we suffer high premiums because the wife seems to engage in totaling cars at times. Or being involved in situations that do. I was actually surprised that they did not drop us as customers some years back.

When I was 16 I wanted a car. A good used car was about a hundred dollars. An exceptional one perhaps 300.00. Insurance was also about 100.00 a year. A part time after school job very easily covered it. Plus all the operating costs.

Where a new young driver around here today .Gets hit with a several hundred dollars a month insurance premium. Unless they can piggyback on their parents policies.

Nowadays, cops often break off the chase if it reaches anywhere close to that number or becomes dangerous to the public.

Post Paranoia

Let's not forget that H.M.'s isp is visible meaning anyone who cares can easily trace his physical location.... more dishonesty from him .

Just yesterday the L.A.P.D. broke off a chase of a stolen Mercedes from Boyle Heights (East L.A.) when it exceeded 100 MPH in traffic, the dolt of course didn't slow down and crashed it less than 10 miles from where he stole it....

There really is no fixing stupid .

Out running the radio is close to impossible anyway .

Only in certain localities do they choose to break off the chase. Check out youtube for many many many police chase videos. 100++MPH is not unusual.

Believe me, if the suspect they are chasing happens to hit you while traveling 100++MPH, you are going to feel it. Like my friend whose car was flipped upside down, it might get you a trip to the hospital. Do you believe the cops care if innocent motorists are caught up in this insanity?

Not to put to fine a point on it ...

She was taken to the hospital; fortunately she suffered no injuries.

Yesterday, local police got into a high speed chase with speeds exceeding 80 MPH in a 40 MPH speed zone. The culprit's car hit another car, totaling it. The people in that car had to be taken to the hospital while the suspects were taken into custody.

At the same time all this happened, I happened to be in the area and could have easily been in the middle of the entire mess. I'm thanking my lucky stars I happened to be a few minutes late to the party. When I arrived at the major intersection just north of the incident, police had already blocked it off to prevent other motorist from going into the area where the crash had JUST occurred.

I'm thinking a mobile police scanner might be beneficial. You could listen to the police scanner for high speed pursuits in your area so you could avoid getting into a collision.

I suggest you have a sit down with your local PD concerning their so-called "Policy" concerning police pursuits. Remember, all it takes is a big Ford Police interceptor engine under the hood, sirens, flashing cherry lights and a very HEAVY right foot.

You might wish to consider tightening your seat belt an extra notch or two and keep an eye on the rear view mirror as well as traffic coming from the left or right when approaching an intersection.

Don't blink.

I don't know what happened but yesterday evening I was driving South on Lakewood in Downey, Ca. and came upon a terrible wreck, a new large black BMW four door sedan had been traveling at a high rate of speed and hit the road divider flipped and hit a lamp post with it's roof, crushing the roof in and snapping off the lamp post....

I wonder if the driver survived .

There was only the one wrecked BMW plus multiple black & whites, tow truck and so on .

I wonder if it had been a chase .

Post Collisions

As a matter of fact, I had two Foster boys and my Sweet in the car and I mentioned that to them, they'd not considered the BMW flying through the air and hitting / landing on us or shedding parts at high velocity.....

Watching that stuff on the T.V. is entertaining, being there very much less so .

Had I been five minutes earlier, I would have been in the middle of a high speed police pursuit a few days ago. I'm purchasing a mobile police scanner so I will be aware of high speed police chases. Hopefully, the scanner will allow me to stay clear of trouble.
