Guy ran a red as I was crossing. Spun me 180, jumped across the street, drove headlong into another vehicle and pushed him back about 3 cars length, then ended up on the median.

If I had been a few feet further into the intersection...

Right ear red from side bags, knee hurts.

Went through 2 brake changes, water pump, fuel pump, set of plugs. Pretty good car. Was.

Pretty sure it’s totaled with that mileage, 2 air bag went off, cooling system, and all that body damage.

What should I get now?

Glad you are ok. Seems like a good time to count your blessings. You just got a big one.

I’m confident my next vehicle will be an EV because most of our driving is just around town.

I’ve got plenty of gas vehicles to play with until they stop selling gasoline. :-)

I'd say the car sacrificed itself to keep you safe. I'll always believe german cars hold up better in an accident than others.

Yup, a door/side panel impact would have been bad, considering how much damage was caused to the other vehicles and how far the standing vehicle was pushed back.

There’s not much in the door to protect me from the full force of a large vehicle at 40+ mph.

Since you seem to like Bimmers, maybe get a 7 series ? (I *think* those are the big, safe ones) .

Big does not necessarily mean safe. There was a video of a head on crash test.

Not saying Renaults are the best ... just that a newer car (even a smaller one) seems to be safer than an older larger car.

Those are actually offset impacts, very different and worse than frontal collisions .

I'm keenly aware of how much safer newer cars are, I've been in the lower end of the Auto Trade for over 50 years now and have seen more wrecks than I could count .

I know every drive is a roll of the dice, remember I've had two 'fatal" Motocycle crashes yet I still ride .

I was looking at the side of the cab on my newly purchased 2001 Ford Ranger pickup trucklet, God help me if I get hit at speed in this thing .

I have always been aware that going by any car approaching me. Presents a chance of a head on collision. That they do not occur with even more frequency does kind of suprise me.

I was a passenger in a car that experienced a heavy side scrape. If our car or the other had been just a little farther over it would have been really bad.

The heavy outside mirror made it through the glass and took out my friend. It possibly went close to me as well in the passenger seat. I just did not see it. I was up in the air with a seat belt on.

We were still going about fifty miles per hour with him unconscious behind and on the wheel. The hit had fortunately moved the drivers door back far enough the internal light was on. That may have saved our lives

I drove the car from the passenger side with the seat belt still on weaving through heavy oncoming traffic. Until I could get it stopped perhaps a mile down the highway. This was a nighttime accident and I felt I might die twice. I was unable to concentrate on anything for about a week afterwards.

Totaled car in January.
Order #1 In Feb-March. Factory closed due to Covid.
Order #2 in June. Factory built car wrong, with automatic transmission
Order #3 in late July. Got car September 15.
