Angry Somebody did something ugly to my benz!

Ok...I must admit I'm really pissed off right now. Last night I had my car parked in the street and this morning my chrome star on the grill is missing. Late last night I heard a alarm go off somewhere but I didn't pay any attention to is (because I haven't got a larm). Anyway, some prick probably found out he needed this star more than I do! And this is really something that makes me angry!!!

What kind of people get so urgent needs to claim this star of mine that they break it off? Do we, benzowners, give people an attitude that bad that they hate us that much? Or is this more something of "you-got-something-I-don't-so-I-want-to-break-yours?" Maybe this I'm just silly for even making a discussion out of it butI just need to release some anger. Ok, this is totally in the wrong direction but you all are a substitute for the guilty one.

So...now I'm wondering...Am I the only one going thru something like this or has anybody else been there? Are people elsewhere in the world jealous at benzowners? Or is this just something that made the dirtbag feel good about himself?

sorry to hear that. I'd be really pissed too.

There was a skinny punk who thought it'd be funny to reach for the star on my diesel's hood when I was in the car.... I just gave it a lil go and he moved away.. he was probably drunk or something.

I don't know.. jealousy maybe, or just stupidity, I don't know. I know some people who hate MB's for no reason. When I asked them "Why?" they said "I just hate MB"

I was like "yeah... and you call yourself smart..."

anyway, it's only $20..

Most of us have been through it. When I bought my car the same thing had been done to it. Hood star had been torn off. I bought a new one from here, $20.00 give or take, and It lasted great until a friend accidentally hit a golf ball into the star shattering it. Luckily it only hit the star. so I am on my second.

I was at my daughters gymnastics, inside, and I watched a four year old walk by my star, look at it, start wiggeling it, then started doing pull-ups on it It held.

Knew a guy whose father had a Rolls Royce, he could NOT keep a hood orniment on it.

Sorry about your loss. People are such losers sometimes.

Best thing I think is to take the time to reflect on the fact that it could have been worse. I have heard stories of keying, breaking glass, kicking in doors, etc. that cost much more than the grill star. I know it's not hte cost, but the principle.
Not taking anything away from the stupid idiot vandal punk who ripped it off...he should be shot on site, then put into an institution, but I think that's the signs of our times...sad.

We have this kid in our neighborhood who used to come by almost every evening on his bike. One night I saw him with my own eyes rip off several fence pickets from my fence and proceeded to smash them. I was in the front, he was in the back, and when I raced over to confront him he was as cool as could be and denied the whole thing! He has not shown his butt-ugly face since...moron.

My car has been in the family since new and it’s on its’ 3rd star.
I’m certain that these people have the “you can’t have anything nicer than me” mentality so they try to ruin what you have out of envy, hatefulness, stupidity & ignorance. Luckily, these people do seem to be the minority as door dings and such are rare but it still infuriates me to no end. My car is not a daily driver…(I cant drive it to work as I know it would be keyed)…..I’m sure it would have much more intentional damage inflicted upon it if it was a daily. Everyone in my family has tried to keep their cars free from door dings and such by parking waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out in the back of the lot. But it never seems to fail. Someone always has to park right next to you to anyway even though there are a plethora of empty spaces elsewhere. So now I just park with the rest of the herd to blend in and not bring attention to the car…..seems to work. I will not leave the car unattended overnight in the street though.

Door dings! Now you've got me going
Stores need to make a special parking area for customers that have cars that they care about. The spaces need to half again as wide with some kind of friendly dividers to keep everyone seperated.
But then I am prone to be a dreamer
I lost a star off an old '67 230 I had about 8 years ago. It made me so mad I didn't bother buying a new one, just so some puke could rip it off again.
( Hey! I feel better now! )

I hate people that do things like this. At least we can take the satisfaction that ripping off our $20 hood star very well may be the greatest accomplishment in their lives, as people this stupid are certain to be going nowhere in life (at least we would like to assume so for our own benefit).

Yep!

My aunt lives in a decent area about 90 miles northeast of Los Angeles. Even still, there's a gang in the area...their initiation ritual for new members is to have them rip off car badges. My uncle (now deceased ) was one victim; every emblem except for the "FORD" blue oval on the grille of his pickup was stolen. I now have that truck, and have new emblems...I haven't put them on yet 'cause I eventually want to repaint the truck. My aunt now keeps her car in the garage.

I actually knew a couple kids who collect emblems like that...I saw their collection, and was amazed and sickened all at the same time...these people just have no respect for others' property.

I wonder if it is possible to rig the star with the battery so when some inconsiderate moron try to pull on it and get a good jolt of electricity instead. I think it would be fun to watch. If I were to do something like that to my car, I will put enough juice on it that he will have a flash back for the rest of his miserable life every time he sees a three pointed star. I have very low tolerance for people like that.

I like the battery idea! Unfortunately I will have to wait to try that 'cuz I already have something draining my battery...i don't need to add another!

I had an inch long deep scratch on the trunk lid of my 126 from where it looked like someone had tried to pry off the trunk star It was there when I bought it, but i suspect they didn't suceed entirely 'cause the star felt loose on the side where the scratch was.
