Have these other Mercedes forums bit the dust?
 

Cleaning up my Favorites list and came across some forums that don't appear to be working. Are any of these still around?

there's two others, but snobs took over. People with older vehicles are shammed. Then the Purist Aryan Overlords, who think half breed neantherdal Germans are pure.

As the cars age, the numbers dwindle, as do the people who actually work on them for fun, which are content producing forum members

190rev has a very active facebook group

There used to be a ponton group and a 170-220 group which seem to have dwindled or morphed into another type of forum.
I see articles about pontons occasionally and others about the 170-220 cars and their accessories.


I would like to get some info on the cars that are earlier than those, the ones from the 1920s and 1930s. We see very few items on those.


Jay Leno has a RWD transaxle powered 130, which steers very badly, according to some and based on his YouTube vids.


I'd like to see articles on two specific cars:


The Adenauers made from 1952-62 and the 260 D made before WWII.


The 260 was the first diesel car. I have a parts catalogue from it but nothing else.


I previously owned a 1959 Adenauer that had to be sold 20 years ago following the dot-com crash, along with my Luger collection (I don't regret selling guns, never liked them as much as the P-38 and the " broom handle" Mauser). Still have the FSM to include the AC manual, which is somewhat rare. The carbureted versions of those cars are easy to work on, and can actually be souped up a lot without any expense. Plus they used GM truck ATs that are pretty available.


I watch people try to shill the Adenauer tool kits on eBay without knowing that there are only two or three tools in those kits that are not common to all the tools in the 1950s cars. That's the real reason to do research so you don't get ripped off by people.

I used to use the "other" MB forum all the time. Something happened to the site and all the accounts seemed to get erased and it wouldn't allow me to log on so I gave up. I think the vintage MB crowd is getting too small to support a lot of forums.
