Solution for squeaky belt on exercise equipment

I have a piece of exercise equipment that has a toothed belt like a timing belt that drives the resistance element. It makes a annoying squeaky noise that is worse when cold. Has anyone used a product that will reduce/eliminate the noise?
Edit: read that bay soap can help. Belt can't slip since it is toothed.

Yea I read about the belt dressing. Since this is not an automotive environment it might work. I would never use it in a car. Bar soap seems to get good reviews.

If the teeth are the force transmission method and not friction, an armor all type product.

Post Squeaky Belts

Soap stops the squeak by lubricating....

This means more slip not less .

If you cannot afford belt dressing, get cheap hair spray .

It's a toothed belt so it can't slip. I have some high quality 100% Silicone spray I might try.

A few parts on the camper get regular candle wax applied. Slide rack gears, awnings. It does not collect dirt, and helps things keep moving quietly.

I wondered if it was the belt or a bearing noise he was hearing. his description is much like a timing belt on a car I think. Not a vee belt with separations to ease it around a radius.

I never took one of these apart. If the load is just some form of adjustable friction device it could be noisy I suppose.

Everyone has a motorized exercise machine. To keep up we brought one for the dogs. I figure the wife keeps me running enough.

Thanks for the thoughts. It's not motorized-it's a seated recumbent cross trainer for rehabilitation after joint replacement. I tried the silicone spray but it made no difference. Then I noticed the belt was really tight so I reduced the tension and it solved the problem. I'll see if it lasts.
