"According to Mattingly’s statement, which also was played for reporters, officers had decided to knock even though they had a no-knock warrant because they had heard Taylor was in the apartment alone.

Mattingly said he knocked on the door the first time without saying he was an officer, then gave Taylor plenty of time to come to the door.

When she didn’t, he said he began to repeatedly bang on the door, and he and other officers shouted they were police and had a warrant, including each of three times they struck the door with a battering ram.

He said when the door finally came open, he saw a woman and a man in a hallway and the man was in a “stretched-out position with his hands with a gun.”

Then the man fired, Mattingly said, “like he was at a shooting range.”

Mattingly said he returned fire at least four times before he had to withdraw, bleeding for his gunshot wound."

There is so much WRONG with their actions, where to begin?

1. There have been more than a few instances of thugs/gangsters dressing up in cop uniforms so they can gain trust and go do criminal acts.

Since this is a very real and distinct possibility, how could ANYONE possibly know who was standing on their front porch at 12:40 AM in the darkness of night?

2. I know in my area of the country, many many people own guns and most importantly, KNOW HOW TO USE THEM. Somebody kicks their door down at 12:40 AM and you will hear about it on the news.

In reality, these cops are not fit to be cops. The protesters say "Defund the police".....I say DEFUND STUPIDITY.

Post Second Party (sublet) Repairs

This too ~

A high school buddy of my son's opened his own auto repair shop, mostly because he was a super rich trust fund kid but also because he's sharp and wanted to defray the co$t$ of his race cars & hot rods .

Once of the things he did was to hunt up some busy transmission and other specialty shops and set up a deal where he'd get warrantied works done at a deep discount, mark up the finished job and every one was happy .

His customers were all well pleased, he never had any come backs / warranty jobs that I recall .

My son and the rest of his gear head buddies excoriated him .

I thught he was being smart by making money with out getting his hands dirty and not cheating nor upsetting anyone .

Subletting some jobs has been a thing as long as I remember, this young man just figured out how to do it better .

Those who burn up the 'phone lines looking for the cheapest price are never going to get a good job done anyway .

It's a sad thing this woman was killed but most of the fault lies with the police this time .

I don't think giving her family wads of ca$h to go away solves anything .

Had she been my G.F. and had a gun I'd made damn sure she didn't open fire before knowing what's what ~ easy to say I know but as is painfully clear now, having a firearm doesn't make you safe, that's just P.R. B.S. by the N.R.A., a jerkoff lobbying outfit that long ago actually CARED ABOUT and TRAINED American citizens then helped them get affordable firearms .

That's all gone now, they don't give a rat's @$$ about you .

Facts matter .

Proper training matters too .
speaking of facts ... you might want to check who opened fire ... jess sayin'

Wow, that's openly racist, you must be proud .

I live in the Ghetto and am not black and we have highly corrupt and incompetent L.A. Sheriffs policing the area .

I don't have no use drugs either, I hope they don't come in here .

I have mixed feelings about the $12M, it would likely be better spent on better training .
The 'plain clothes, no knock scenario' has big problems. She was shot because after her boyfriend starting shooting at the guys who broke down his door with guns in hand they shot back.

Points also perhaps to the possibility that being armed and ready at all times is it's own downside. Seems they could surveil a house and arrest the perp when they went outside. If the team that broke into the house and been in uniform, more chance (maybe) of the boyfriend not shooting at them.

Eh 12mil won’t last long with ghetto families. I bet it’ll be spent in 6 months.
Thanks for sharing.

Nice idea but in cop land, it doesn't stand a chance because it makes rational and logical sense. Cops haven't received enough of the right type of training to know how to make a proper drug raid. Loose canons.

When working in Compton, just at the border with Gardena I got on the other end of 13 cops pointing guns at me. Two things that stood out: one was the difference in how I, a white guy was treated compared to the black workers from an ambulance service next door to our studio. When I came out of the building I was taken to the side and questioned, cops stayed calm and friendly towards me but when the two black girls, wearing their uniforms, came out of their unit, they had the red sniper dots on them and were immediately handcuffed and treated much more aggressively. They both had feared for their lives, something I never did.

The other thing was how hyper and aggressive the younger cops were compared to their older and superior partners, they had to be hold back constantly by their more experienced partners.

Living in LA, you gotta love it.

Whatever people are saying, it's still the greatest city in the world.

Post The BEST City

Well.......

Have you ever been to NYC ? . for me it's an open toilet but for many young folks it's the bee's knees .

Boston, Ma. is full of history and beautiful buildings .

I'm not sure which city in TEXAS I like best, I usually leave the city there pretty quickly and follow the ancient farm to marker roads....

Every place has it's ups and downs .

Because I'm a Gear Head and live & breathe vintage vehicles, Los Angeles is it for me .

I look around here and see why some don't find it special .

It's full of culture and movies etc. , great roads (even in town) and a foodies delight (yum !) but no one thing suits everyone, remember that .

You are ignorant the legality. In this case the Police had a legal right to exercise the no knock warrant. Any time they do that there can be a shoot out. It is that simple.

I thought more normally they waited till around 2 am to kick the door in. They try to surprise people while they are asleep and before they can reach for a weapon.
The Police also need to get in before illegal drugs are flushed down the toilet or simply thrown out the Window.

When someone shoots at the Police they can expect to be shot back at. In this case the Boyfriend shot first.

In the end the Police do much more good then bad.

Only slightly related to what you said. The Boss of the Fuel Injection Shop I worked for referred electrical work to Wayne Electric here in Long Bach and stuck with that shop.

Wayne tried to do the job at rock bottom prices but was not doing well. He said after he upped the cost of his work he got Customers that he did not have to struggle to get payment out of.

What happened with Wayne was sort of the opposite. He always did good quality work but he attracted poor nit picky customers that resented paying him for the good work.
