VETERANS DAY
 

To those who made it back, thank you .

To those who didn't, I at least, will never forget .

For those whio came back scrambled, I'm sorry you were cast aside .

I thought trash collection wasn't on national holidays .

Good thing SWMBO had me put the cans out last night .

One of the more interesting salutes to our veterans...:)

Most of the good lessons I learned in life came from WWII & Korean Veterans who took the time to teach me right from wrong and a strong work ethic along with very good cause and effect comprehension .

Sadly, too many were not well taken care of when they returned .

Thanks to all you veterans out there.

You are appreciated and respected by those of us who did not serve too. It makes me mad when I see pols out there talking about how they care about vets while gutting the funding for your medical care.

what did we join for ? our govt. being took over by nazi's? wasted lives

I’ve never been in the position of having to look to the VA for anything beyond the help that I earned in the form of the GI Bill that helped fund my education. I’ve seen some with serious health issues helped immensely while others were not.

In 1966 when I came home for the first time, in uniform, people spit on me. My peers. Now, the same people, still my peers, are like: Thank you, vets!! I get bad memories flooding back, come every Veterans Day, , , ,

Well, I never spit on anybody. I could never understand people blaming the foot soldier. They were victims as much as anybody.

I understand perfectly.

In 1970 I got off an airliner in uniform and a really gorgeous, long haired blonde came toward me. I thought she was going to say something nice until she came up close. Her expression changed and she let it fly. That is the closest I have ever come to striking a woman.

I don’t have a full head of hair any more so I very commonly wear a cap and my late wife accrued quite a supply of US Army caps for me and I am often wearing one of them. Today, it is stylish for people to say “thank you for your service.” Although I appreciate the gesture, I sometimes wonder if it is sincere or just the trendy thing to say. That blond may very well be saying that today. She did the trendy thing in 1970 so maybe she’s following today’s trend.

I wonder what those spitters thought that they were accomplishing by spitting on guys that were answering the draft, and doing what w were told because we didn’t want to go to jail for evading the draft.

I have never been able to understand how some folks mis treated service personnel in and out of uniform .

This shows clear lack of understanding how freedom works .
