Cool. Since there is no smog here there are some V8 Toyota trucks running around. Now that I mention it...how about a M117 in my Tacoma?

Actually given that it was forty years, even if you bought it cheap would have been a horrible investment if only owned during that time for the purpose of investment.

In simple savings you would have gotten a really good chunk of that $24K and you would not have incurred license, insurance, maintenance and other expenses.

Yea it's mostly for entertainment but the vast majority of 40-50 year old vehicles were gone 30-40 years ago. The one real mistake I made was selling my '64 XKE 3.8 Black plate car for $4000. Sure it needed restoration but it was rust free and all there in driving condition.

Yes, that’s the only way one can justify keeping the old cars.

I have a ‘78 regular cab, short bed four wheel drive pickup that I bought new and just ended up keeping it because I had a purpose for it. It’s now restored, and worth a good bit, but if I sold it I could never claim it to be a capital gain.

Who would have ever thought that ordering Hemi powered Plymount Barricudas (I forget the year), say 3 of them and garaging them mostly for 50 years would yield millions. Didn't cost all that much more to get the Hemi. Persoanlly, I got worn out on the Hemi mystique a long time ago.

Yea me too. Lots of cars have Hemispherical combustion chambers. They got a lot of mileage out of Hemi.

I still love a hemi. One day perhaps I'll own one. I like the baby ones built by Dodge in the fifties.

Post Old Dodge Hemi's

I remember them fondly too, very stout and rather thirsty .

The bell housing being part of the block casting was a bit of a problem for Hot Rodders .

When I was in L.A.P.D. Air Support we had two 1964 helicopter start carts. powered by these fine engines, still 6 volts no less .

I was able to get one running, it sounded glorious .

Sadly both start carts (HUGE generators on four 15" wheels) were sold off as scrap .

Here's another

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1991-toyota-4x4-pickup-16/?utm_source=transactionalemail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=bat_watched_listing_ended

I sold my '89 identical to this (with a color matched steel camper shell) but the color for $2200 a few years ago. More miles but clean Ca truck. Who would have thought Toyota 4x4's would be this collectable? I think BAT has brought auto auction to the masses and increased values somewhat. I watch several cars I'm interested in and many have greatly increased over the last few years by the BAT gauge. R107's are one that comes to mind. BAT has sold more R107's than any other venue.
