Covid-19 Thanksgiving : What Will You Do ?

Here it comes again, we've whittled our visitors down to close to zero in general, even the foster care folks have to visit our boys by telephone now .

We usually have a very few folks come for turkey day, this year I'm trying to limit it to my Sweet's daughter and grand daughter plus the two foster boys .

Sad but that's life in 2020.....

Well the Canadian thanksgiving is well past. We were just a little cautious. As we had absolutly no virus at that time. Yet we felt that would suddenly change very fast. New years dinner is a big deal with a lot of people in. We have cancelled that for the first time ever. Christmas dinner is also very limited.Plus that could change further.

Why? We wiped out the virus totally. At the same time the local population where given a real fundemental understanding of virus behaviour. As the seasonal temperatures dropped and the humidity levels as well.

The potential for the virus to become a totally differaent animal potentially existed. Actually making it almost a different animal. So at the end of July we were instructed to get used to wearing masks with no virus around by law. Well two days ago here it started and is acting as expected.

Contact tracing does not work as you do not have to go near people to get it. In other words they do not have a clue where the cases are coming from. This also was expected. . In the first time we could trace all the sources. In the thousand cases and wipe it out fast. Fortunatly we never had even one case in our large county.

Then basically you had to be near someone that was sick to get it. Currently it is in a large city 120 miles away. We are waiting to see if they will seal the city off.

What part of the world health organizations message did the bulk of America and most of Canada not understand? You do not manage this particular virus. You kill it off.

Simply because you cannot manage it in the late fall and winter. It has not even really got going yet. It deserves respect if you live in an area that gets seasonal flue. That it has not been getting.

Biidden as Trump before him do not seem to understand the potential situation. The Center for Disease Control has been noticeably absent. Possibly because they may have been involved in the initial spread of the virus in America. We have the European strain of the virus. More so than the Chinese. Canada got the virus from America.

I of course hope I am wrong. The people here had a situation going that nearly wiped out all the regional population in 1918. They learnt too much from that experience to ever forget.

There were no misteaks made here with this virus until they forgot what true quarantine really is. Plus also not quite up to speed about the change in transmission. Where one sick person now can make hundreds sick.Depending on the weather.

You have three possible symptoms and may have a mild case that is persisting. Getting tested is not hard.

Mild cases have been reported to last months by some. Why get tested is you may be contagious. Then again it may not be this virus. Remember people are turning up that totally have no symptoms that have the virus as well.

Our area has been pretty much immune during the entire crisis now cases are increasing rapidly. Tourists come from all over walking around with no masks. We are staying home and having our frozen Cornish Game Hens. Our neighbor that usually hosts a big Thanksgiving dinner has cancelled and we are pleased.

Then you are one of the millions of fools contributing to the duration of this problem. The test takes a few seconds. If you have symptoms, get tested and stop being a big baby.

Decided to stay home this year. I have been in close proximity (co-worker) to someone who tested positive and my nieces boss may be positive so we figured we would all play it safe.

2 of the 3 daughters live here in town, one of them across the creek. The third lives 6 hours away. They drove the six hours yesterday, so it has all begun and won’t end until Sunday. Three daughters, three son in laws and 9 grandkids. Have been no cases with any of us, so except for how we do trips to the store and such, it’s Thanksgiving as usual. It’s a mad house with grandkids ranging from three to 19, but we love it.

Family Comes First

I can dig it, I remember huge family gatherings long long ago when we were all younger ~ no one in my family had the large numbers of children my parents and uncles, aunts and so on did .

I miss it .

Most of my blood family is on the East coast .

We're having a small gathering here, I hope no more than 6 .

A woman in TEXAS went to her sister's birthday party, no one had tested positive yet, after they parry everyone was sick and she's now hospitalized .

By the time this covid-19 gets you, you're screwed .

oldsinner111 11-26-2020 07:24 AM

just killed my back with a 12 pound ham, and 11 pound turkey breast in oven. low pressure here, so lower back flare. 7 for dinner, we cooked the meat. grandson women will do the rest

oldsinner111 11-26-2020 07:34 AM

Hey guys, took out turkey, still icey.Put in water, got my cooking bag, and floured it so it won't stick. Looking for neck, gizzard and such for gravy. finally figured it was a breast, no legs, or wings. haha

Thanksgiving 2020

My Sweet has been up in the kitchen doing her thing, occasionally calling me to open something or get a heavy item off an upper shelf, I of course automatically clean anything loose every time I walk through the kitchen .

She just brought me a steaming bowl of Collard greens and turkey neck meat....

Life is very good indeed .

I'm not sure why we have two Thanksgiving threads going .
