Post Open Rockers

It's just seriously old technology .

They had total loss oiling systems for a long time too .

The English are quite clever at designing things that work well and last seemingly forever, as long as you never exceed the design parameters and don't mind the constant touching and maintenance required .

So far no one has looked up Lister Diesel Engines, they're crude but amazing and last forever .

I'd not be surprised to find this old engine has cast iron pistons .

I’m kind of hazy on the memory (so probably got it wrong) but I think there was a European tractor that started on gasoline and then switched to diesel or any high ignition liquid fuel. It would warm on one fuel before switching to the other.

International Harvester built them, BIG six cylinder motors, had a lever that lowered comp ratio and turned off fuel governor, (injection pump < inaccurate name for them!), had an up-draft carburator. Started as gas & ran till warm, worked back that lever and = diesel! Where I live, SoCal, never needed to run till hot, still followed procedure as start motor could not turn over motor as diesel, too much compression.

Think American brand as well. Gas tank to start off then switched to kerrosene tank.

Long time now since I saw it. fuzzy on details.

This was common in the 1930's .

John Deere 'A' & 'B' model two cylinder tractors all had this, we had them on the farm in 1960's but only ran them on gasoline .

Thumbs up

Always glad to share good music....

There's quite a bit of vintage tractor or old water pump percussion based music out there...
