Have a safe holiday season!

Favorite gift i gave to the Mrs. a large sandwich size chunk of geod with Amethist chrystals in it. It looked very expensive to me but did not cost that much.

Favorite gift I received is a t shirt which says "car guy" printed like in the dictionary , "noun, knows all about cars, and is ridiculously good looking".

That last part is a great exaggeration. I look pretty healthy perhaps, but not more than average on looks.

Not the best holiday season. Knowing that a huge amount of people that are under various forms of unusual stress out there. Personally I think the virus situation is far from over as well.

We have had to cancel some things ourselves as a social responsibility. After decades of them being convention also seems very strange..

We at the same time are well aware of how fortunate we are. Yet it does not seem to mean that much at this time.

Setting those things aside. The weather here is unusual in being very warm. Warmer here on the east coast of Canada than Florida. For Christmas.

As gifts go I had to wait for a larger excavator to appear. They were booked solid all summer and fall. It appearing the few days before Christmas was a gift in my mind. Although I never heard an excavator scream that loud when pushing over a building. I had requested the largest one they had. They sent the next size down. Claimed a big deal to float the big one. . There was a piece of metal starting to make a noise when there was a wind. Far too dangerous to get way up there and secure it. Trees blocked getting at it with a boom truck. That had to be stopped.

Well put. It is a very constricted Christmas. I won't see any of my out of town siblings or cousins.

We'll live with the restrictions though.

Thumbs up Christmas

Well ;

I have friends in Australia and they had a serious lock down thing going on in April, May and June - couldn't leave the house except for work or the store and cops watching etc., etc., this resulted in the covid-19 being largely corralled, now they're allowed to go out and about, as it's Summer there, he went to the beach .

Here in Los Angeles we have more than 50 covid-19 deaths every 24 hours, no hospital beds, ambulances often have to wait a HOUR before they can unload their emergency patients, things are definitely going to get worse before they get better, mostly because some folks are so scared they won't deal with reality and are infecting them selves as well as others...

My Sweet is 78 and we don't know when she'll be inoculated, she's up there with the first responders and critical workers but it takes time....

I'll be lucky if I get inoculated by April, more like June I think .

This wasn't the best Christmas by far but looking back it's far from the worst either .

I suspect the current situation will persist for at lease a year or more. I plan on using the time at home for projects so we can travel when this is over in a few years. Maybe I will get my shop built.
Just had left over Christmas dinner and double pumpkin pie.

Post The Time It Takes

Yep ;

Many before us have had it worse .

If we are cautious it will be over sooner, if we're foolish and try to pretend this is a manufactured crisis, it'll keep dragging on and killing your friends and family .

It is abnormal to have the case numbers California Currently has. Especially in your weather. Chances may exist you have a more aggressive strain or mutation of the virus at work there.Or at least the possibility exists.

North American governments. At all levels. Seem to be too adapt at dropping the ball far too frequently. In dealing with this virus situation.

Culturally we tend to look at short term gains and favor them over long term. More looking at things long term will improve one's quality of life.
