Intro

I didn't see a newbie section so I though I would introduce myself here. My name is Mark and I'm giving consideration to buying my first Benz so I thought this forum would be a good place to start getting information. I expect I'll read more than I'll post, but I'm sure I'll have questions.

Welcome. What kind of Benz are you partial to?

- Peter.

I'm really hoping to find a unimog that I can modify for off-road camping.

Sounds like fun!

I looked at one to plow snow with about ten years ago but decided I was getting too old for the climb into the cab.

Well that's a bit of a niche market for sure. Used to see a bunch of them around in the Army back where I'm from. It'll be an expensive proposition I'm afraid.

This is odd, click his ID and end up at Benzomatic126? Also, only one post count yet he has 2 on this page? Is the site malfunctioning?

That is weird. Benzomatic126 has been registered since 2002 and I just registered a few days ago. I have no idea why hitting my ID leads to his.

Perhaps there is some lag in updating things lately. That is not the only strange thing I have noticed.

Post ! WELCOME NEWBIE !

Depending on where you're located, a Unimog can be found in decent shape very affordably .

Then the fun begins and your wallet starts to smoke .

A guy in my local old Mercedes group bought a diesel powered Unimog for cheap (under $3K running and driving) and then dropped $15K or so into rebuilding it and converting it into his "bug out" camper, it's very nice indeed .

Keep us posted .

Thanks for the welcome. It's always a bit awkward on a new board.

I honestly wouldn't mind traveling for the right deal - like your friend I want one in decent mechanical shape that I can rebuild.

Thumbs up Newbie

It's not awkward here, the people here collectively know everything about any Mercedes and are willing to share this knowledge as knowledge is worthless unless freely shared .

THERE ARE NO 'STUPID' QUESTIONS .

(maybe some of mine) .
