Favorite concert?
I saw tons of shows back in the 70’s and 80’s. Living in the NYC area made it easy. My personal favorite of all time was The Eagles at Giants Stadium, June 1980. A couple of close 2nd’s would be AC/DC at MSG in 79’ and The Who at JFK in Philadelphia in 82’.

Late 70s early 80s also. Them days they Called it Chicago Fest, or Honkie fest not Taste Of Chicago as know in years before 2020. One price maybe $20.00 live concerts all day long. I remember 38 Special, and Eddie Money the most. There were lots of young women in Daisy Duke shorts reasonable priced food, and no trouble. One Ted Nugent concert at the then Chicago Stadium, the person right behind me had the worst concert memory.

I remember attending a Billy Joel concert around 1976-77 that was held in a small gymnasium. Probably a few hundred people there at the most...

I took 2 sisters to a Richard Pryer concert, early '70's, (just one was GF). So, there was us, & about 10,000 black dudes/dudettes all around us. I never laughed so hard in my life! The girls started elbowing me, I looked at them, they were looking all around. I looked & about ½ the audience was glareing at me. I threw up my hands & said: This dude is GOOD! He is FUNNY! & went back to the show. We made it out OK. Was in San Diego.

Chicago in 1975 at the Indiana state fairgrounds on the straightaway of the mile dirt track. Second for me was 1966 at same place but inside at the colosseum.... Bobby Hebb, Yardbirds, Gary Lewis and the Play boys and Sam the Sham and the pharohs. Aooooooo!
Here in Lafayette did a few at the music hall.....one was Joni Mitchell with an unannounced cameo by Neil Young. Also saw Harry Chapin. |
I remember Ted Nugent. He used to live in Schaumburg and was an ass.
We used to go to concerts at the Aragon Ball Room and also at Roosevelt University downtown. There was something every Friday and Saturday night. Sometimes there was something Grant Park at the band shell. The Who played at Roosevelt when Tommy was out. I remember the girl I met more than the concert - but liked both. |

Clutch. Nuff said. Weird Al is always a great show, anywhere. He puts 110% into every performance. Specific show... Primus at Red Rocks. Played a full set, then payed another full set that was the album Sailing the Seas of Cheese in its entirety. F-n awesome! |
I am of a different era from a lot of you :) lots of really good tech death metal shows come to mind. But my favorite, most memorable by far, totally out of norm, Lionel Ritchie in Camden NJ. My friends and I were given free tickets. Middle of the summer and had severe storms that night. They paused the concert in between acts, but resumed shortly after. There was spider lightning all across the sky all night and it was absolutely spectacular. Maybe not the safest, but wow, what an experience.

If I found myself in Camden lightning would be the least of my worries....;)

creedence at my high school el cerrito high, their high school too

Mid 90's I saw John Williams conduct the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. About half way through the performance the first note of the theme from Star Wars hit .... the audience (my self included) lost or collective chyt. Very little can compare to the original author conducting his own score. EPIC.
