With my Formula autocross car it is very interesting to observe the effect of sunlight on the pressure.
The warm grip is a lot better than cold. I check them after every run and adjust pressure if the car is pushing or tail happy.

Everyone wants an early test time for qualifying. This is because it is cooler in the morning and the air is denser. This means more Oxygen and therefore more HP produced by the engine. But the cold gives you the least amount of grip. So you see the Indy cars weaving back and forth as they are warming up during test runs. The more miles put on the tire the hotter it gets and the better it grips. Cool air and hot tires give the best performance times. |
