Otterbox oddness
I’ve been using the OtterBox defender for years. It’s ideal for me, not only good protection, the clip on thing keeps it in my pocket most of the time.
My phone is a first gen iPhone SE, I’ve really gotten more use out of it than I deserve, I think it’s pushing four years now. It still works pretty well, the only downside is battery life seemingly gets shorter all the time. I bought a new OtterBox bundle recently, the other screen was getting hard to see through. Was working great until today when the cursor and pages just started jumping around wildly. Would jump from page to page, just chaotic, I was thinking, well OK, I guess it’s time to get that 12 mini at long last. Just for the heck of it I took it out of the OtterBox and all the weirdness went away. Everything behaves normally. No jumping around, no nothing. I couldn’t see any dampness or anything else under the screen. Dampness usually results in less sensitivity, not more. At any rate, I gave it a good cleaning with a damp cloth and a dry cloth. After I post this I’m going to put it back in the case and see what happens.

Part 2:
It’s behaving much better, though some of the weirdness has popped up again a few times. Really strange, never had an issue with Otterbox before.

Sweat and contaminants can soak into the built in screen protector and cause erratic screen issues.

I very rarely touch the original screen at all. I put on an Otterbox when it’s new and leave it on.
But last night, it started behaving wildly without the box on. I turned it off and on and that improved it. But I’m starting to think I’m kidding myself, I should get a new one before this one goes completely south. It’s actually done really well all in all. About two years ago, it fell about 10 feet from a scaffold onto the sidewalk. I had the OtterBox on, and it showed no ill effects from the fall. But you would think that stuff would add up eventually.
