American Motors was in talks with BMW in the late 1960's to build the BMW 2002 under license in the US. But, the estimated production costs put the kabash on that. Americans buy their cars by the foot and by the pound.
Here in Bubba Estates, people flush out the cooling system on their outboard motors in their driveways or on the street. There's an attachment that goes on the motor and a garden hose that supplies water to the motors. Out of the water, outboard motors are LOUD. Honda makes a fairly quiet 4-stroke leaf blower. It also has an oil sump, instead of having to mix the oil in with the gasoline. But, they don't sell it in the US. I guess they're afraid of being politically incorrect. They don't sell stick edgers here either, probably for product liability reasons. When it comes to product liabilty, stick edgers are sort of like trampolines. https://youtu.be/H6paF1OFCVA Last edited by Autoputzer; 09-21-2021 at 05:00 AM. |

BMW Classic, the restoration division of BMW, built iftaround 2003 from a body shell (to have a 1974 VIN and to be legal without meeting 2003 safety and emissions standards).
https://youtu.be/vCw-8RgkYW0 The '74's had the dreaded square taillights, but they fixed that to make it look like a '73. Somebody on a BMW board found a 2002tii in a barn in one of the eastern Euorpean countries that was for sale. He asked the board members if it was worth what they were asking for it. One member observed that the Fuchs wheels alone were worth what they were asking for it. If my office lottery pool wins the $545M Power Ball jackpot tonight, they're going to build another one.
