Talking In love with W123

Well.. I have been looking at all these 123's here in Europe and I have fallen in love with them. They;re cheap, nice looking and will keep going forever

Im gonna buy one... one of these days

I also think I found a pair of lights for my car for $50

Good job Snibble, the 123s do indeed grow on you. I remmeber earlier you were complaining about theyre noise level (90% of them are diesel), I guess you got over it?

Where are you anyway? If I remember correctly it was Wroclaw, but I could be wrong.

Yeah they are great cars.. I used to hate them especially since my dad bought one years ago ('82 280E Euro spec). At that time I think the W124 was still the Benz to have.... so I thought the 123 was definitely out of date and unattractive.

How I wish I had that car now... Diamond Blue with Blue Velour interior, working A/C and 16" BBS RS wheels, and a little lowered too.

Even though I have one, I still wish that I could have a 280E or 280CE in Euro form. I saw one. That Euro M110 motor started and sounded amazing! I couldn't believe just how quiet and sporty a W123 could be...

Then reality steps in and I could hear my klattering beast in the background :p - At first I thought the 280E's engine wasn't running.

trelinski.. im in Wroclaw. I can't get on the forum anymore.. new layout and I guess new registration?

Ya.. I remember complaining about noise and stuff. But the other day I saw a yellow 200D(not sure.. but I think it was) in perfect condition and i just fell in love.

Now for the questions... Whats the difference between a Euro 123 and a US 123? Same as a w126?

Yep, you'll have to register again, a 5 minute job, you may as well, cos people are starting to wonder where you went.

As for the differences, I think its mostly like the 126, bumpers, manual controls for things like windows and AC, and of course, the lights.

My favorite 123's are the wagons.

Later,

Yeah the same things...
Different headlights, side markers, tail lights, and obviously bumpers.
There might be other diferences too...

The ACC is also available as an option in the Europe I think.. just that not many people wanted it. I don't blame them, it's useless and I may as well have the manual and I just don't see the difference.

Euro 123 Diesel

snibble,

If you're going to get a euro diesel, get either the 240D or 300D with the 5 speed manual transmission. That's the only way to get one easily. Fantastic. Plus you get the simple heater/a/c which is about the only one that ever works. The euro have stiffer springs and quicker steering, too. Then there's the euro headlights and sexy bumpers. Find one to drive, you'll have fun!!!

Our family had its first 123 230E many years ago and we loved it from first sight.

My brother has his first 123 200 and will always look upon it fondly.

It is his opinion that the 123s were the best ever built in the 80s. We're now talking in the 2000s and his 123 looks the same as it was many years ago ...
