I’m wanting to revisit this as this was for me something from my youth , an old 77 dodge van was my fixer upper and the weekend vacation was the Texas coastal region and hill country . Texas has a lot too see , sure it’s all a lot of homes and fenced off keep out territory now , it was wide open a few decades past . Good ole 318 dodge motor , good reliable motor is key .

We took it out last weekend and when we were ready to come home It was in limp home mode. I drove about a hundred miles home running 30 to 35 mph. Yesterday found a repair company who found a bad fuse and replaced it.

'The slide out steps also stopped working. I will take it to a different place which specializes in rv.

I probably will not keep it long term. I'd rather pull a travel trailer. I believe I can at least get all my money back on it.

Sounds about right. We always buy a model which is depreciated out. We offset that though by eating out a lot. I just like the freedom of being able to go when we want and stop when we want.

best thing to look for in a rv roof. either one peice made fiber glass roof, or bus construction. Most rv and trailer's made with two strait up walls, with 1x1's holding up tin roof. they leak at seams and sides. Had a neighbor new trailer 30 foot collapse. So roof important, and aluminum frame under neath

The last few days we took the decision to go back to a pull behind trailer. I have been perusing old airstreams and try to move my view along. It is a nice unit but just not for me. I went out and got the Winnebago out of storage. Operating it in a no wind environment is a pleasure....I love the smooth quality feeling mechanical stuff but the top heaviness is just too much for my taste.

Post RV / Camper / Trailer Roofing

Nate's dead right ~ the light construction of most trailers / RV's is absurd .

Of course, if you're stuck with a leaky one already, go buy a dehumidifier RIGHT NOW before the cheap pine wood begins to rot and a 5 gallon bucket of Henry's and what ever brush / mop / roller you prefer to apply it with .

I remember looking at 'Scamp' brand tiny trailers, they're all fiberglass so never leak .

We had a love bug....nearly identical to scamp but had superior frame design with low floor for easy entry and actual suspension. I believe a lot of the scamps have the axle bolted right to the frame.
