wind

Longest USA tornado path ever known. Probably 50 to 100 dead. We can still be kilt by weather.

Mean while in other parts of the country we are facing a record heat wave in Dec.

Here in the DFW area it was 82 yesterday.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/december-heat-wave-send-temps-184529435.html

Quote:
Tens of millions of Americans are set to spend the final days of fall basking in a December heat wave that will send temperatures soaring as high as 30 or even 40 degrees above normal in the days ahead.

Even though Old Man Winter was alive and well in the western United States and parts of the northern Plains on Friday, where significant snow was falling to close out the week, his visit to most of those places will end abruptly, and unseasonably warm weather will envelop much of the eastern two-thirds of the nation in the days leading up to Christmas, AccuWeather meteorologists say.
Right now it's 46 out side.

Tornadoes are a serious bummer. One touched down a few miles away about 20 years ago and I couldn't believe the toothpick situation in the woods path when I went to hunt it.

Last night we had big thunder and lightening in the snow storm.

I saw a lightning bolt through my closed eyelids as I laid in bed. And the thunder came instantaneous, very close. I'll have to go see what got hit .... eventually

As if the last go around wasn't enough

Quote:
A destructive, dangerous and historic December day is ahead for Wednesday, with all weather hazards possible including strong and long-track tornadoes, high winds and explosive wildfires.

Approximately 100 million people were under some kind of weather alert stretching from the West Coast to the Great Lakes.

On Wednesday morning, 9 million people were under the risk for severe storms across portions of the central Plains and Upper Midwest. The main risks were anticipated to be damaging winds in excess of 75 mph, followed by the threat for long-track and strong tornadoes.

Two factors compound the danger level: storms after dark and the forward speed of the storms.

For cities like Kansas City, Missouri; Des Moines, Iowa; and Minneapolis, the storms were expected to arrive after sunset. Nocturnal tornadoes are more than twice as likely to cause fatalities.

On top of that, the storms are expected to be moving as fast as 80 mph. That means people in the path should prepare now because the storms will approach fast.

Global warming/CC. The deniers claim right to screw things up for everyone, like virus science deniers.

They don't have right that imperial me, and should be eliminated from the gene pool when they overstep.

I was in town today and got hit with a serious rain storm. The wind was pushing 70 mph.

A tornado tore down some utility poles, knocked a few houses off their foundations and now it is snowing.

Bad, but nothing like the Kentucky storm. Folks are shook up but nobody died.

More hurricane-force wind gusts were reported across the US in a single day than ever before
Thia thing really moved right along and is headed off past the great lakes into Canada. What choice do we have but to get used to it?

On Saturday, Walmart tweeted that the company is sending water and supplies to residents impacted by the "devastating tornadoes" in Kentucky, Illinois, Tennessee, Arkansas and Missouri.
And I noticed at walmart yesterday that gallons of water ( spring, purified or distilled) which used to cost $0.80 are now $1.12. 40% more.

Hmmmmmmm. At least 2 ideas come to mind. 1) The walmart water shoppers are funding the water donations directly by the new price., or B) This allows walmart to claim an artificially inflated larger charitable contribution deduction based on their then current pricing at the time of the donation. OR BOTH. Would be very interesting to see if the price drops back down shortly after they are finished donating to that particular crisis.

Or maybe simple consumer goods prices are going that nuts. But I noticed that the non walmart baby water brands have not gone up . Still at $0.98 the normal premium over regular water.

Lot starting to go on that looks like global warming effects.

Watch the level of electric car production. Increased enough and there are some indications people will be forced to buy them. From background indications they will increase the price of gasoline substantially as an incentive to do so. The percentage of diesel cars out there is minimal. I do not expect diesel fuel to track upward in lockstep. As It would impact shipping costs with heavy trucks and railroads too much. There are problems in the situation though.

The electrical grid will need a lot of upgrading and strengthening to stand the weather to come. When the production of electric cars reaches the levels of gas cars production. .I suspect the cost of operating a gas car will make them virtually worthless. Interm changes may be made to reduce gas consumption. The democrats are proposing 555 billion dollars to get rid of fossil fuel burning in the budget.

I started thinking about it when I saw the future prices of a barrel of oil betting. Some are at 150-200.00 a barrel. A few as high as 250.00. Does not really matter the government will set the prices to get any effect they want. They cannot cope with too many serious weather events. So they may move faster than typically common. Serious weather changes also reduce food production.

Since it was reported the tropics are overheating it seems to have changed the urgency a lot. At best though just buying time will be the effect. Until nature swings into more action.

This world needs a signifigant population reduction should be pretty obvious. The officials have known the tonnage of pollution pumped into the atmosphere for a long time each day. Yet in the face of it tried to keep the status quo. I am not a tree hugger type by the way. The earth has suffered severe events before and nature brought it back.

Starvation looks like the method that nature might employ this time.

Rationing of many commodities is a distinct probability. Dealing with global warming in any attempt must eliminate many personal behaviors by law. Currently raining in the high artic is unknown in mans recorded time. At this time of year.

Extreme viewpoints possibly. Time will tell and it may not take too long. The winds generated waves of a three to four story building on lake superior reciently.
