Angry REDICULOUS Customer NO SERVICE

What the hell is going on at Pelican Parts ?! .

Order # 1638554679-159

I was called Friday 12.10 to come pick it up after they'd closed, when I arrived this morning I was told I have no orders made, now I check my E-mail to discover its been CANCELED .

W.T.H. ?? .

I've been a loyal Customer for over twenty years and have watched the slide from good sales personnel to clueless uncaring minimum wage boobs .

This is a step by step plan to run the company into the ground .

I hope Dmitri is paying attention here ~ I don't want to lose my primary partshaus but if you don't want my business, I'll be forced to go elsewhere .

I can empathize. I got the same treatment direct from the Benz dealership. I was contacted 6 days after I paid them over $1000 for an order in which they said, "I'm sorry but we can't fill most of that order. Would you like us to get what we can and continue or would you like us to refund the whole thing. I opted the later and they closed with "it will take 5-6 business days to refund your order. We hope you come back soon."
HA! and

Question

The interesting thing is :

I stopped for coffee *just* before reaching Pelican Parts whse. so when the lady (she was polite unlike some of their workers) couldn't find my order I said 'no problem, I'll wait right here whilst you figure out what's going on .

She didn't say 'that part isn't available' and neither did the refund notice .

I need the !@#$!!&%% part not B.S. .

I'm not defending either of them, however COVID has changed much in the supply chain. Around here the availability of both parts and new cars/trucks/SUVS has dropped CONSIDERABLY. The dealerships are looking like GHOST TOWNS......

Thumbs up A Reality Check

You're right husky man, however, this problem pre dates the entire covid-19 thing .

I don't understand why so few want to work or don't want to do the work they're hired for .

On the way to Pelican this morning my Sweet and I were watching clean and reasonably dressed, well shaven bums begging .

Right there on the corner a business was looking for delivery drivers, a dead easy and simple job if ever one existed .

One of the bums had a cell phone and was trying to hide it behind his cardboard sign .

I don't believe for an instant that every bum wants to be homeless but I see too many healthy young people out begging .

I've been hungry, I was even homeless for a short time in the early 1970's no one to blame but me so I got off my duff and got some crappy dead end job and rented a tiny one room apartment....

I've never had unemployment, I think it's necessary but it's hard to imagine how anyone in a major metropolitan area can't find work .

I'm not educated but I like to work and always worked hard, never once said "that's not MY job" .

It could be a drug testing issue. Not many these days can pass without coming up positive for something.

Concerning unemployment benefits. You are not required to take a job that makes less compared to what you got at your last job. If you take a lower paying job if you need unemployment again you are going to get stuck having to go to jobs at that pay level. At least that is how it was here in CA in the past.

You are correct; plus there are additional requirements that make it difficult for some to gain employment. A friend recently attended a conference on hiring; the speaker said that in the near future, two out of five Americans will end up with a criminal record which will make them unemployable. That's nearly half of all of us.

BTW, I've met and known a few of these people and believe me they were NEVER a threat to society in any way whatsoever. Most of them were falsely accused of some BS and didn't have the money to hire a high powered lawyer to defend against the lies and BS.

Nate,
This pretty much sums it up. Only those that have suffered, and know what it takes to build up, have an appreciation of it.

Today's view of suffering is having a $1000 smart phone OVER a year old with no other bills to pay or worries in the world...

This really is a OT thread, not really relevant to Diesels.

Thanks and keep it civil please.

Post Odd Topic Thread

Yes, Jay Bob ;

That's why I placed it in the off topic area, not the Diesel forum .

I don't see anyone being un civil .

Unlike many, I have compassion for those who are caught in life's switches, part of why we take in foster boys .

This weekend I'm taking my 15Y.O. foster boys to a Christmas Cookie making event, they've been before and always love it .

After that we're having the V.J.L.A.'s annual Christmas lights Motocycle ride, the boys will be following up in my brothers big old S Klasse Mercedes then I'll take them to a nice dinner on my dime .

I won't bore you with the endless boring stories but I remember every kindness ever shown to me and for me, part of being allowed to live in America means helping others .

I have little patience for those who choose poverty and misery, until you've been there or either side of the fence you cannot possibly understand .

The C.O.L.A. runs bum vans when it gets as cold as it did last night (36* F) , we pick them up and take to local Army Armory's, they open them up and provide cots, woolen blankets and hot coffee .

When you're sitting there in the van listening to young men discuss their next scam instead of '? how can we get out of this?' you begin to see the bigger, true picture .

No, I don't boot those ones out of the van .

Wages aren't keeping up with the cost of living and any business that wants the labor needs to be offering wages which are attractive enough for the work they're asking people to do.

Living in a metropolitan area is expensive. You can't simply find a cheap apartment like you mentioned and many people end up living in AirBnB type situations with 10+ other people.

I'm quite happy that there's a demand for labor as wages need to be raised. I'm unhappy with the management of my own company as our labor shortage is causing manufacturing delays. Our factory wages haven't gone up and yet you can get $3/hr more working for Burger King down the road from our factory than you can as a entry level welder in the factory.

I'm not sure what you're smoking. I don't know anyone with a $1,000 smart phone.

What you're seeing out there is enough people realizing that the jobs they had were terrible and they weren't getting anywhere staying in them. Who would want to work retail for $10/hr and no chance of moving up or getting paid more? "Bonuses" and "raises" aren't even above the cost of living increase year over year.

The pandemic gave people the chance to review what they were doing and if it was worth it. The answer that many came to is "no."

Pretty much any new iPhone 12, 13 is a grand.
You live in the DC area, there are thousands of them out there, check out any hipster at a Starbucks "blogging" for work.

We often complain about cost of living, which is indirectly referencing inflation without calling it as such. Inflation has only two causes, demand outstripping supply (short term) or currency devaluation (long term). Devaluation is directly attributable to government policy and expenditure, nothing else. The greatest pain and longest lasting is in devaluation. You can look at the dollar's devaluation since 1965 and it is utterly shocking. How can you plan a future when that nest egg might only buy you 30% then what it will now?

Solvency is the only means to a strong currency....as a country we are now discussing whether or not to take out a 6th mortgage...a harbinger of things to come.

Complaining about how people work (blogging) while complaining that nobody is willibg to work is a nice (if overplayed) cliche.

Exactly right; the dems are willing to cash checks on a bank account that is already in the red to the tune of twenty trillion ++++++. There isn't an economist on the planet who believes any of this is sane.

the dems plan is to tax those who work so we can pay those who don't. I especially enjoy the $450,000 they want to give to every illegal who crosses the border. Again, they are more than willing to spend your hard earned money. By the time they finish, the illegals will be living in mansions driving high dollar cars while the rest of us will be living in card board boxes. perfect.
