electric fuel pump

I bought a fuel pump to help get fuel to the carb on my 54 Studebaker. I am looking at it and it does not say what it is 6 or 12 volt? Does it not care?

Parts never care. But find out what the original spec was and consider if this pump is OEM compatible.. Oh wait .... 1954? check with the pump MFG.

The wattage will be the same regardless of voltage, so unfortunately the amps would double. Depending on the design, it may cause the pump to fail. There are 6V specific pumps:

That's the easy part! The conversion from fuel injection to a carburetor was the head-scratcher...

Thumbs up Another Studeaholic...

Ah, ha ;

I had no idea you had more Studeies .

I love electric fuel pumps -but- unless you had some sort of safety shut off device they're VERY DANGEROUS in case of collision or rollover .

Just to make sure you know. Those electric pumps push fuel better than they draw it. Mount it near the tank rather than near the carb.

I used several electric push pumps on my 617. I push wvo/wmo mix at 80% cold. Veg oil made them wear out fast. I bought from NAPA solnoid type 14 psi. I pushed both fuels,when in diesel mode unbelievable power up mountain grades, like the grapevine in california. Blew every vehicle away up the mountain.

I have had it a few months. It received an amateurs' restoration about ten years ago. I will say the paint is fully professional on it, and the interior is excellent as well. Some details are not up to snuff, but the Studebaker had some rather amateur details from the factory in any case.

I wanted to resto mod it but after looking at it this while I probably will keep it stock.
