Navigation System
Looking to get Navigation System installed in my 2002 ML 320 and had a few questions.
1. Is this an easy installation for the dealer or will it be a lot of work? 2. Does it only work for defined areas or will it map out a trip like from Ohio to Florida |

Mick:
You can do a search on this and come up with some answers, I just responded to a simialr question just yeaterday, I think on the audio forum. A short answer is that on a 2002 especially, it's quite simple, the nav unit is a "drop in" to the MCS unit, and I believe that on a 2002, there isn't even any antenna switch to mess with. They will need to do some reprogramming of the MCS though. The MB system is CD-ROM based, this means there are about 10 to 15 CD ROMs neccesary to cover the US, the system will come with 1 disc of your choosing. The dealer should be able to show you what discs are available, you will need to buy the extra discs. On the new cars with Nav, such as the S class, there is an option to buy the whole set. On a new car, the price seemed quite reasonable for the set. I'm not sure if this is available as an accessory (over the counter) or only when a new car is purchased with the nav system from the factory. Gilly
