Modern Motor Oil's Or Cutting Oils
Finally after reading thru many thing's and past experince, I figure Auto Maker's want to sell car's and meet, mileage MPG's by the government.
These new 0w20w oil's with no anti wear additive's suck. I remember my Dad buying new Mercury's. They all came with break in oil, You had to drive them a certain way. Tolerance's were tight. Now they claim these lawn mower motor's are tight, but no break in procedure. Dad always used Rpm Delo 30w in his motor's, as Diesel rated oil's had the good stuff in it. Synthiec or not these oil's are just added expense, only meant to give added mpg's, power, and, cooling like automatic, screw machine oil. Why is it, that drag race engines, that have Oil warmer's, use 50 wt. racing oil's. Hell of alot tighter engine's ?

I am guessing the looseness is to allow for expansion. Racing engine gets hot; oil needed is thicker.

There are more precise machining methods for cylinders and better ring materials that do not require rings to be seated like in days of past. I think engines last as long/longer now days even with the thin oil.

well a 62 mercury s55 with 390 V8 did over 300,000 miles? race engine tolerance's tight also, best piston's rings. some engine's over a half million dollar's

That is impressive, but with the same care a modern engine would likely do a lot more.

A lot of wear took place in seating rings before plateau honing became commonplace.

I still say scam in our throw away society, so carmaker's can sell more. Like electric car's why so heavy like gasoling powered? why big fat huge tire's, so tire industry can make money. Power windows, sunroof's lift gate's, camera's cause people to lazy to turn a back up.
AC really I can understand heat, but milking your battery for AC? should be a safe vehicle, that weighs, half of gas powered. With the least electric parasitic options
