I should be sleeping (long Car Trek shoot) but thinking of you all

How's it going?

Tonight I'm in Portland, filming for what will be Car Trek 10, and having a blast off-roading in some pretty terrible cars, but homesick. Instead of sleeping, I thought of this place, and thought I would check in to say hi.

I get back to Kansas in a few days, and will jump right into YouTube videos so I get at least a week ahead, as I start filming Season 3 of Car Issues for Motortrend after Labor Day. Then I'm off to another Barrett-Jackson auction live coverage in October. I'll also be selling my Hemi Superbird there.

All of this exists thanks to this site. Meeting my mechanic the Car Wizard here, along with iwrock, who invited me out to the taping of the first episode of the Grand Tour. At the time, I was trying get my foot in the door writing car blogs after completely failing as a car dealer. Meeting Jeremy Clarkson, and having him reply to my tweet afterwards, opened those floodgates to so many opportunities.

But it all started here... So thanks guys. Goodnight.

It sounds like you are having a grand time! The car dealership no doubt provided a great number of learning experiences.

As the old ad used to say...... You became a success the old fashioned way.

You earned it.

Still enjoying your videos Tyler and of the Car Wizard of course, can't help but think, watching them that one of "ours" made it into the big league! What a success story!

An old man, 91, once told me “there’s lots of room at the top kid.”

I wasn’t sure what he meant, he elaborated. There is oddly enough a perennial shortage of talented people behaving intelligently. If you keep your eyes open and put your fingers on some good ingredients, success is available.

I say that because I brainstorm about other things we could spawn through our collective experience and overall wonderfulness.

I always enjoy Tyler's stuff, Car Wizard not so much. He doesn't really offer much insight for DIYer's and sounds like he's complaining a lot. Maybe I'm expecting too much having spent my entire working life fixing cars?

Eric from South Main Auto is by far the most educational/instructional YouTuber I've seen....

Tyler keeps it real. His video on his Dodge diesel conking out at 999890 miles bought on the frustration in him that it would in any gear head. So close to that magic one million mile mark! But the Wizard fixed it in less than one minute. I guess that's why they call him the Wizard.

I was glad to hear him mention Hallett raceway in Oklahoma. I used to have a place in the far out country, outside of Tulsa, that was close to Jennings which is where Hallett is located.

Not a lot out there. You don't have to worry about the neighbors whining about the noise!

Keep up the good work. I enjoy everything you do.
