Cop shows up, you tell him 'I live here' and they ask for I.D., you provide I.D. and the cops and you begin to laugh about the crazy old biddy who lives across the street .

This is basically tantamount to the old biddy swatting him. The cop has nothing to go on but second hand info ? Did he interview the complainant first? As soon as the guy gives a reasonably credible response story the cop needs to start thinking abut assigning cred. In no universe is it ok to cuff the guy on nothing until he proves things otherwise to the cop. A complainant should be given no special ownership of cred. And the cops should not be jumping to unfounded conclusions. This how blacks have been treated since forever and a big part of the problem in relations. ( BTW Wasn't his home he was watering at the request of absentee owner) Would have been perfectly reasonable for him to state the facts and ask that the complainant be brought over to straighten this out. She did a fine job of that after he got jacked up. Cop screwed up. There was no threat and both he and the biddy were wrong. No way the vic should have to pay for that.
