Post Obscure Motorbikes

This one is a 2003 Ural 750C.C. Solo .

Dnepr stopped production a while back, mostly they made flatheads and had terrible quality control, wheels were often not round and other boo boos .

Still Crazy After All These Years-ural.petcock.pieces.jpg

One of my co workers bought a Chinese "BMW" a long while back. He said the heads looked like cheap hibachi grates. He had a lot of fun on it.

Post BMW Copies

Yes, I can't spell the name correctly, something like Chang Jiang, the sidecar that came with my new/old Ural is one of those, looks like 1930's design because it is .

Elders here may remember Stalin (I think) giving the entire FlatHead assembly lines to chairman mau in.......? 1950 ? as a sign of solidarity .

It was no loss to Russia as they'd stolen the entire BMW factory lock stock and barrel from East Germany .

They also took a GM truck plant and many other factories .

The Chinese ones can be okay but FlatHeads in general don't like continued high RPM's, that's the primary use of most vehicles in America .

Interesting history lesson in all this if one cares to go down the rabbit hole.

Yea that sounds familiar and it did have a sidecar. Not a high speed machine. He would only very occasionally take it on the freeway.

Post Sidecars

Very few are ever properly set up, this one tried to kill me repeatedly on the way home .

Once properly set up and you learn how to drive it they're okay on the open highway or freeway but never at serious speed .
