There was a Vespa/Lambretta meetup in Cincinnati last weekend.
It was neat seeing 20+ scoots rolling around together. safety and fun in numbers. https://queencityclassic.weebly.com/?fbclid=IwAR1iwP4ggTVZjMVcvrYMkle4VdTFb3WvRf9TQBrSaeIMf0SkdhNbegr9O6M If I had a scooter that fit their requirements, I'd probably love rolling around with them. |
I had a Lambretta something or other when I was 15 in New Mexico, about ‘66 or ‘67. It was fun. But then I somehow talked my dad into buying me a used Suzuki 150. Tiny by adult standards but it was a twin cylinder and way faster than the Honda 90 type bikes that some of my friends had.
I sold the Lambretta for 60 bucks. Would love to have it back. |
These were all the rage during the 60s since you could buy them at Sears where they were marketed as an Allstate. I remember driving one and taking a turn and hitting a spot of oil during a turn and flipping over. I was only going about 5 mph.
I picked it up and it started right up. But I sold it soon after. Hitting a pothole with such small tires was always an event. |
Vespa Scooters
Nice .
I have only ridden one once IIRC . Super fun but IMO not safe due to the tiny wheels . |
