Oh, NO ~

This is terrible news ~! .

I was that kid in the neighborhood who always knew where the nests were along with thw bad dogs that bit without provocation .

I'm terrified to this day of stinging insects .

The yellow jackets tend to make their nests on my back gate behind the old road signs I have hung up, I discover them after I've unlocked and begun to open the gate so I can't run away as my dogs might get out .

My sire 'Elvis' likes to catch and eat bees, wasps and yellow jackets .

Those are paper wasps. They overwinter in the nest. Usually not aggressive but taking their nest is a major provocation, so take care. The best time to take the nest is when the temperature falls to freezing. The wasps slow down and become more passive. If someone is wanting the nest, let them come and take it themselves.

It's still summer weather here and no sign of activity for a month so I'm thinking they are gone. The yellow jackets are showing up here making eating outside problematic. I used the traps with great success in Ca but for whatever reason they don't work here. I once stepped in a yellow jacket nest when I was using a chain saw clearing dead wood. They were all in my clothes before I realized there were there.

It’ll get you up in the morning, say what?

One afternoon we had a fried chicken break of sorts, about 4 o’clock, they wanted us to work till eight, some deadline, at double pay rate.

We were at the doctor’s house, more or less in the woods. Wasps were all about. While we were eating, one guy got a bit worried, said he reacts badly to multiple stings. There were a couple of those plastic traps hanging, but the bait must’ve been old, they were empty, no wasps checking them out. I noticed that the reason the guy was worried is the wasps were really attracted to the smell of fried chicken. So I got some of the small bones, broke and mashed the bones and gristle best I could and put that in the bait area. Those wasps went for that trap.

THANK YOU ! .

I had no idea that would work .

I used fried chicken in them and it worked great. The cheap stuff from the hot food case. But it dries out in a few days.

Look what I found hanging near my deck today. I'll just let it go until it gets colder.

Posted an ad on CL for it and someone came and took it today. It was really soft and floppy-not rigid at all. The side facing the wall was open so I could see inside. It was rows of cells in multiple levels.

In what section did you advertise it ? .

Was it still active ? .

Just general for sale-that's all I ever use. The nest was abaondoned. They only use the nest once. I had bee bopper just in case.
