I have created a Mercedes monster & saying goodbye to an old friend

I want to preface this by giving everyone on this sight a huge thank you ! I can't begin to explain the amount of information I have ingested over the years. Which in turn has made me a more "intelligent" shopper and has saved me from some potential purchasing horror stories. So, with that said...THANK YOU!

Well last Thursday I traded in the first Mercedes I ever owned. My 87 260E with 308,878 miles is now gone. I am actually kind of sad, which feels wierd for me as I have never had an interest in autos before buying a Benz. I loved that car and it became like a trusty old friend. It served me very well, sat out all winter and always started. My maintenance was minimal and the driving pleasure/experience rich.

I traded in my 87 260E & 90 300E for a '99 clk 320 for my girlfriend. Now that I have driven this car, all I can say is wow, what fun. This is a very well balanced, quiet, nimble, tossable well muscled car. It is so much fun to drive, I'm thinking of trading the 400E for a clk 430...maybe. I see there is a '99 clk 430 AMG on ebay for $38,900...hhmm.

This will be my girlfriends daily driver and she has already began the, "I'm taking the long way home from the office" comments. And when she says long way home, she means 2 hours. We live less than 10 minutes from her office. She has had a grin on her face since last Thursday. This may seem commonplace to some, but she genuinely had no prior enthusiasm for cars until this one. Today she even talked about going for "long" drive! She has developed another dimension to her personality...Mercedesmania.

Anyway, thanks for letting me talk and I will miss the trusty old 260, but have a beautiful black clk 320 with 35,000 miles.

Thanks again to everyone here for all the help and information !

Just curious how much do you think the 260e is worth? Not to rain on your parade but i just gotta ask Does the clk feel just as solid as the 260e?
